One uses ai and one doesn’t let you own what you buy
Which is worse

Not *quite* the same, but I get what you’re saying.

Most gamers don’t want AI in gaming or the console
Nintendo literally just made its console portable with no real downside

It’s popular to hate on Microsoft and Xbox right now. It is what it is.

nintendo’s strategy doesn’t translate to a mediocre product that costs 1000 bucks tho…

Yeah no. Windows 11 is infested with MS own Spyware and AI garbage. Unstable as can be and killed my PC and after over 20 years of using WIndows was so awful I went to Linux a month ago. All Nintendo did is make a device that is really convenient HARDWARE feature, no extra accounts or AI or Spyware.

People liked Nintendo’s portable console and their home console, whereas people hate the shit out of Windows 11. It’s as simple as “bad things are bad.”

Not the same thing, at all. Any device you put windows on… is shit. It performs worse, its buggy, its not what console users want out of a curated, closed experience.

This isn’t even kind of the same thing…

Uhmm, Nintendo had both a very successful console business and an even more successful handheld business, but development was starting to spread too thin, so they unified it, and did great.
Meanwhile windows is terrible right now, and Xbox is at the lowest it’s ever been as far as popularity goes, so mixing the two with what is likely a pretty steep price doesn’t sound super awesome from the get go.

Yeah reminds me of the smoke prank on the series x meanwhile steam pushes a patch that makes the steamdeck boil otself inside of peoples backpacks by turning on by itself and nobody covered that

I mean even the description is quite obviously different?
If Nintendo put OneDrive and Teams on Switch so it could hog system resources, for no fracking reason, I’d clown on them too.

Its different because
Nintendo: Made home consoles run on a handheld thus giving us console quality gaming on the go.
Xbox: Sells PC that may or may not run Xbox games (Xbox cloud/Xbox play anywhere doesn’t count) and Windows itself is crappy. Plus PC games may have bigger library but that also means we will get third party launchers, always online drm and having to juggle around three separate libraries on same system which isn’t comfortable at all and if I wanted PC gaming, I’d buy a PC.
And ROG ally left a very poor after taste of Xbox/Windows hybrid.
