I installed this mod last week and it's so nice. I know there are a number of other usb c mods out there, but after shopping around, I could tell that the giltesa circuit board was super high quality.
there are 3D-printed parts that come with the circuit board to fill in the difference in height between the 3DS connector and the USB-C connector. There's also a piece that's used only for alignment in installation, which makes it super easy to get the charging circuit board lined up right on the main board. There's even a piece that lets you use the gold contacts so you can keep the ability to charge with an official 3DS dock.

If you have any soldering/electronics experience, it's a rather straightforward mod. Highly recommended… if you want to get the 3DS charging on USB-C, go with the giltesa mod. I was so impressed that I bought USB-C mods from Giltesa for the Wii U console and tablet– I haven't installed those yet, but I can't wait to have the console and tablet running/charging on standard USB-C.
