“Last year, every studio representative got an additional safety briefing and [our company] helped prepare legal paperwork for everyone in case they got in trouble with ICE or immigration,”
safety briefing: don’t break the law
legal paperwork: the visa you’re supposed to have anyway

so is anyone **relevant** skipping the event? the article only mentions people from indie studios that nobody had ever heard of before. they can give themselves a fancy title, but they’re “creative director” of a company with like a dozen people if that.
also worth noting, while this sub will likely completely gloss over it, lots of people seem to be citing how much of a shithole california is talking about all the violent crime that happens in san francisco as part of why they don’t want to go and just how unreasonably expensive the state is.
FTA:
> many potential GDC attendees said the show’s downtown San Francisco setting has started to feel unsafe or unwelcoming, especially given the cost of travel. Longtime attendees cited the risk of being assaulted, getting harassed by growing numbers of unhoused people on the streets, or encountering open drug use as potential concerns about coming to the city.

The country operate under a facist government that is waging a war in the middle-east.
Guys. Stay in your countries. One of my collegue was jailed by ICE last year(he got released). Not worth the risk
