If Xbox is celebrating its 25th anniversary by showcasing its journey over the years, we must also acknowledge that we, too, have evolved as players.

Xbox has transformed from a console offering a single way to play into a more complex system that provides many more options for where and how we play.

How has your way of playing changed over these years? Are you still strictly console players, or have you adapted your habits to different options?

In my case, the arrival of xCloud was the most significant change for me; it allowed me to optimize my limited free time, enabling me to play more on any device with a web browser (especially the mobile phone).

    1. Honestly I’d use the Xbox features on my PC more if it didn’t suck absolute shit. So many times it has broken my audio or even worse one time froze my entire PC in a way that hasn’t happened since 2007.

I have a pretty decent PC set up too. Not top of the line but I’d say on par with a Series X. I have 64gb of RAM and the app still operates slow and chugs through it. It’s just a load of crap and the UI is a mess too.

I really liked the idea of jumping in friends parties and stuff but it’s too much of a hassle.

    2. In 35 years I’ve not changed how I play games. Sitting on my couch playing on the biggest tv I can afford. In 35 more years my answer will be the same.

I used to be strictly console until about 2009 I started playing PC and now still play a mix of both.

    4. I don’t use xCloud at all. I swap between PC and Xbox depending on where I want to play my game. Cross-save and cloud saves are awesome.

With the ps1,ps2 and og xbox, I only played single player games and local multiplayer. Then played hours and hours of multiplayer games on the 360 and ps3 gen, probably more than single player games, same with the the xbox one and ps4 generation.

This generation I basically only play single player games now with the exception of elden ring and halo Master chief collection. Online multiplayer player come in hard with the 360/ps3 gen , definitely the golden age. Now its too sweaty and riddled with micro transactions.

I generally don’t finish games anymore unless I REALLY love them and when I do I usually will finish it a few times. Last game like that for me was Expedition 33. Now I just hop in a game, play it for a few days or a week and then its on to the next. If I come back, then great otherwise it is what it is.

I play on PC and console, but while I keep telling myself I’m going to main PC, it never happens. I can’t get any gaming done on PC because I’m too busy doing everything but just playing a game.

Nothing has changed, outside of not buying a crazy amount of titles.

Library free rentals and game pass keeps me covered for wanting to try many games. I now only need to buy digital only titles and stuff I know won’t hit game pass anytime soon.

    8. Funny enough, I play more now than when I was a teenager, yesterday I was watching my achievements history, it took me 6 months just to finish Halo Reach campaign.

I also get to play way more games now thanks to gamepass.
