Wow the reviewer played for 150 hours. I bet they patch quality of life things down the road. I’m tempted to wait a bit longer to play until they add a storage chest, fix menus, and fix “the small frustrations that add up over time”. I do like the no handholding aspect.
I still want to play it. It could be that when it’s finished being polished it’s a diamond (to use the reviewers language) like with Days Gone and Cyberpunk after they fixed some things.

I mean, this sounds great?
The dude put in 150 hours and gave it a 4/5. And over 150 hours, of course some missions would seem repetitive. That’s like most games this size.

Still don’t know what this game is about or what? Is it any good? No reviews….

8/10 then?

I feel like most of the people commenting here didnt actually read the whole thing, cause there are a lot of real concerns from this review.

My main concern is that the game looks extremely generic.

I always assumed it would be around an 8/10 type game

Single player MMO you say? No thanks

ppl gonna find this as the absolute truth of the game to fit their agenda whatever it is instead of one person experience.

I want to what the thoughts are on the story/plot of the game and what the quality is of that

Curious as to how many people here have any significant time on Black Desert and how they’re feeling about this game? Seems like most don’t have any background with Pearl Abyss. Speaking as someone that feels the predecessor MMO should have been a single player from the get even though I enjoyed my time in on BD.

I don’t care so much about Metacritic thing, but games like Crimson Desert appear, showing who among reviewers is honest and who isn’t. I think Crimson Desert will be as good as Elden Ring, Stellar Blade, and God of War Ragnarok.

So I read the whole review and it seems thoughtfully written and genuine.
All I will say is, almost every complaint can be easily patched and fixed but it also seems like a lot of the complaints are just the reviewers opinion and not an indication of a flaw in the game.
Worst issue to me seems like inventory space, I guess this is a game where you will be getting a lot of shit to fill your inventory and the spacebis limited to your character and no way to store items.

Sounds like it will be a fantastic game in 6-12 months time once it gets polish

I likes what i read and the negativos doesnt bother me to be honest maybe the only one that dint resonate that much was the puzzles but i mean its a pretty big game so in fine with getting day one

I am also concerned about the need of a review embargo like this. It strikes me of someone hiding flaws to get people to pre-order.

Elden Ring is overblown filler mid, Stellar Blade is a good game, but great goonerbait. Ragnorok ending was mid to trash.
I’m hoping Crimson is wayyyy better than those three games. Like holy shit if its on the level of those three games I’ll be super disappointed. It should be wayyy better.

How does he say the combat is fluid but also criticize the controls?

150 hours and those are the only complaints?!
I can deal with that. Mechanics click with some people and don’t with others.. it’s quite subjective to the player how they feel about them. So, if some puzzle mechanics are harder to grip for the reviewer, doesn’t mean it’s going to seem as stark to other players.
4 out of 5 for 150 hours isn’t bad at all

The inevitable 2.0 version of this game is going to be amazing in around 18 months.

Frustrating controls is a concern.
