I just dont even listen to reviews anymore, I go off my own judgement these days. Loads of games that have gotten bad reviews ive played and have been fantastic where ive got so immeresed into them. I feel like this game is going to be the same. Roll on tonight

When leaks suggested “game of the century”, yeah, 80 is a failure – a failure compared to the massive pre-release overhype
It’s just another “good game, but there are better, so might wait for a sale” for me, until I go through my already massive backlog.

Game had massive, and I mean MASSIVE hype around it – to the point where anything below an 8-8.5 would be considered a flop by many.
Personally, I saw red flags after every preview video they released.

I get the sense this is an 8 now and some of the issues will get patched out and it will be in a much better place so I’m going to leave it for a few months.

The game has had a huge marketing push in recent weeks, with gaming social media comparing it to RDR2 and The Witcher 3.
In that context, this result is a failure. It’s still a good result, but considering the hype surrounding it in recent weeks, it is a disappointment.

The games rating scale is stupid. It’s basically:
1-5 – garbage
6-7 – disappointing
8 – good
9-10 – amazing
It should be more like:
1-2 – terrible
3-4 – poor
5 – average
6 – good
7 – above average
8 – great
9 – amazing
10 – perfection
Lots of tremendous gaming experiences to be had in the 6-7 range

I wouldn’t call it a failure but certainly it would appear this is another game with a very specific vision that not everybody expected.
I’m coming to terms with Korean games often don’t have much plot (crimsons recurring issue in reviews) but then neither do stellar blade have much of a plot and I loved that game!

As someone who only knew as much as people told me about this game i am surprised to see 7’s and 8’s with how hyped a lot of people are but honestly that sounds like a good game to just wait for on sale and I can pick up if I run out of my current backlog nothing wrong with a 7 or 8 that’s still worth money

Unfortunately the hype got ahead of this one. All the problems described in the reviews were stuff people all saw coming (and oddly the performance aspect was what people ran with leading up to release). This should be fun in a year or so when it’s patched and half the price

“Failure” is definitely way too far, but honestly I get being disappointed by it. When a game is hyped to the moon, a mere “good” score seems like a blow. People (myself included) are already expecting GTA 6 to be a 10/10 game, so if the reviews for it are all around 8/10 it’s gonna be a bit disappointing to see
That being said, fortunately we all still have the option of simply ignoring reviews entirely lol. If you play a game and think it’s a 10/10 who gives a shit what any other review said about it

For a game that was originally teased as the next Witcher 3 back in 2019 it put those expectations on its own back. Anything less than 90/100 is considered a failure to the studio. Hence why the stock has plummeted 30% today investors are bailing.

Perhaps I’m a low maintenance gamer, having grown up with Atari and actual Arcade games, but this game from the reviews offer’s soooooo much gameplay. Sure, sounds like the story mode and some voice work isn’t AAAAA, but consider the work involved in this for the past 5 years and how much entertainment there is, it’s a resounding success.
