Capcom told its investors that its players won't be presented with any AI-generated assets, but it's unclear where it draws the line.
"We will not incorporate assets generated by AI into our game content," Capcom said in its investor Q&A summary (via machine translation). "However, we do intend to actively utilize such technologies to enhance efficiency and boost productivity within our game development processes."
Capcom said it is "currently evaluating potential applications" of generative AI technologies "across various disciplines," including graphics, sound, and programming.

Some people have a really hard time understanding the difference between logic and reasoning tasks and artistic tasks. I made the comment once on a YouTubers Bluesky account in reference to AI usage in games that there’s a huge difference in AI being used to make coding easier, and AI being used to generate assets and art and his response was “Umm not sure about that.” Like…. do you use a calculator? Do you expect people to go to GitHub when the LLM can do it 100% faster? I use AI all the time for my work in Excel, which allows me to make way more useful templates than I ever could before, because I’m not a specialist who has practiced all the advanced formulas for years. Anyhow, Capcom’s statement is exactly what I’ve been saying its validating, because some people cannot have any nuanced opinions beyond “AI bad”.
