People hate chikorita because it's not being feminine, it's just competitively bad and nothing else.

People hate modern water starter because they are too humanoid. Humanoid design are always controversial in the Pokemon community Gardevoir people are down bad or dislike it.
and that the starter gender ratio is 78.5% male to 12.5% female feels odd when the feminine starter is most likely to be a guy.

You’re right for the most part but i guess there’s a small group of people who specifically don’t like the chikorita from the anime and all but i think the videos are just ambiguously titled to make people watch. That’s literally it, that’s youtube for you.

the chikorita one is fine, i didn’t watch the geckqua / primarina/ quaquaval one but i think you have to be clueless to act like there aren’t a lot of homophobes hating on them, quaquaval especially
Pokemon had a majority male fanbase. Stands to reason more feminine designs would be a bit less popular. It’s like saying Barbie is misandrist because there are more Barbie dolls than Ken dolls.
Doesn’t help that Chikorita is known as the worst starter in gameplay terms as well.
