How I imagine those same folks when it fails.

The game has recouped 55mil out of its 250mil budget so far. Noone is “desperate to hate it” lol. People are speaking through their purchasing decisions.

    3. Wow! Actually wow! Some of these folks online are so weird that they were going to push a false narrative to hurt the game’s reputation. This is actually pathetic behavior from capital G gamers. Imagine creating a scenario where a game that you hope to fail did not and is getting superb reviews and you still try to kill the game.

I made a comment about it being a solid B game for bungie based off reviews and got downvoted for it. There is a very loud and vocal group who hates the game.

    5. I mean astroturfing is absolutely real and bots run this website (and every other social media). But the anti-fans are will discredit any positive feedback about anything so who knows 🤷🏾‍♂️

People have their own reasons to hate Marathon. Some it’s being an extraction shooter, being made by Bungie and their reputation with Destiny.
Being a PvP focused game that’s more “hardcore” than casual focused.
Or you get more attention in this day and age for being a hater.

I mean Falloutplays has already admitted to being paid to post content for the game on his YouTube channel.

Don’t act like Sony or Bungie aren’t trying to get good word out on the game.

I definitely hate it because of bungie, will never buy anything from them again personally.

That’s especially ridiculous considering there hasn’t been any real traction on marathon on Reddit. When you see the commotion around games like Crimson Desert and Arc Raiders, Marathon has had far less Reddit interaction in general. I’m glad the game seems to be doing well despite a lot of initial hate, it’s not for me but I can see it being great for the Bungie fans.

    10. It’s just so bizarre to me, like if you don’t like the game then don’t play it? But I would think most of the people who say it’s bad either haven’t played it or barely put in enough time to get a feel for it.

      Gamers are fucking weird man

That’s not just a marathon thing. If you post anything on reddit that goes against popular opinion about a piece of media, you get accused of being a bot/shill. As someone who enjoyed stranger things season 5, I have experienced it!

    12. That’s just the state of the gaming community these days, unfortunately. Hate everywhere. Starfield is horrible, Marathon is horrible, TLOU is horrible, Crimson Desert is horrible, Cyberpunk is horrible, etc. Anything that is ever popular is horrible.

I have had an absolute blast with each of those games (minus Marathon because I haven’t actually played it yet) but reddit tells me they’re all terrible. Surely I must be wrong, apparently.

The hate for Marathon is something I’ve never seen before. The game is great so play it or shut up.
