Is this normal ? It’s even worse when i put a case on it

I noticed while putting a clear case on my 3ds that it was literally OPENED.

It does it only when the console is opened, when it's closed I can just press it back in.

When i put a case on it tho it starts bending weirdly too, closed or not.

And dw the curved backplate is because of an old battery that swelled, i changed it.

Could this be the reason why my R button isn't working even after cleaning it ?
