I like doing it by mood. Fast Track are games that I really want to focus on. Laid Back are more casual playthroughs (replays tend to be here). Mind Hack are games to play while fucking around. The Zones are the resting grounds for games, with Camp Zone being my multiplayer section.
To be clear, I agree with your sentiment. Everyone should find a system that works for them. I just like talking about mine.

You can already search by tags, so you making categories/albums of genres is useless

Uncategorized games are multiplayer and various giveaway games that I have no interest in “clearing”.
