Saw this today in The Atlantic and thought it was interesting- and concerning. I wonder if this means a PS+ price hike is coming

I wasn’t going to extend my PS plus subscription anyway because the constant price hikes made it unaffordable. Good luck with that, Sony.

They did a great job of convincing me I didn’t need PS+, I still have no clue why I paid for it for years.

Sony is in for a rude awakening when most of they’re install base gets multiplayer fatigue, what will they do then?

This is an easy one; if prices skyrocket, I’ll just give up on modern gaming.

I have my PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4, and I have a catalogue of 300+ physical games. If Sony decides to nickel and dime us, I’ll just go backwards. I barely play multiplayer games these days, and I don’t need free games every month that I’ll likely never play or buy anyway.

    5. Feels good to have ditched ps plus altogether for over a year. The only problem would be if they raised the game prices to nintendo-like prices.

I thought the point of increasing the console price, was to keep up with RAM prices? Or did they just do that because they can?

Unfortunately, I think this is the approach that each hardware manufacturer that also sells software will take. This will especially apply for Nintendo who are presumably looking to maintain their new console’s current price for as long as possible. I could totally see a price increase coming to Switch Online memberships or more games hitting the $80 price point in the future as they are forced to engage more in buying new memory units as they deplete their current stock levels.
