    1. To make me buy a ps6 next year they would have to make intergalactic a ps6 exclusive and I can’t see them doing that.

    2. It makes sense that they’re not delaying the release date, I’m sure the manufacturing deals and other minutiae are dependent on releasing as scheduled. I just don’t think people will buy it yet.

Ps6 is going to cost like 1400 lmao and that is probably with them taking a huge cut.

    4. 2027 is too soon. Still seeing new games getting a PS4 release along with the PS5 release.

So, fuck being on track for 2027. The gen just started in 2024

      Anyone who disagrees…

      …is wrong

    5. Not getting it anytime soon. PS6 is rumored to be more expensive then the PS5. This upcoming generation is going to price many people out.

    6. As a game collector that would buy one I still don’t believe that Sony would be stupid enough to drop this thing next year, presuming it costs more than the ps5 pro costs right now, which by all logic, it should, it will genuinely flop by ps standards and probably not meet even the lifetime sales of the ps3. Realistically the ps5 generation didn’t start for most until the supply chain issues were over in like 2022 so I genuinely think they should hold out until 2029 but 2028 at a minimum…

As for helix Microsoft already self sabotaged the series x to the point that they might as well get a new box out the door early it’s going to sell like shit anyway if it’s 4 figures like expected.

With how long the PS4 hung on, I’m probably gonna wait 3-4 years before upgrading to the PS6 unless Kingdom Hearts 4 is a exclusive or something

    8. I guess COVID had a huge impact on the overall “feel” because 7 years is about right for new consoles, but it feels like we’ve just gotten started with this console cycle.

    9. 2027 is too soon. PS5 is just getting its stride going. They could wait until 2031.

    10. Most of PS5 exclusives are cross gen like who needs new console when this gen doesn’t feel so much different from PS4

    11. PS5 Pro is $1k

PS6 needs to be substantially better and actually priced well. If not, it’s also pointless

    12. I’ll stick with my ps5 pro I got for 350 a couple months ago new at Walmart until 2033+ lol. I have a gaming pc anyways that will be way stronger than whatever a 1200 dollar ps6 could be.

I think with the relative slowed down advancement of graphics and capabilities from ps4/xbox one into the current gen, coupled with the COVID hampering of the first 3 years in this gen, they really could stand to keep the 5 rolling for a few more years.

    14. Zero chance it’s dropping in 2027. Just a ridiculous notion honestly. 2028 is the earliest it will drop.

    15. So the PS5 Pro will have only been out for 3 years and probably cost $1000 by the time the PS6 is released?

    16. TheNakedOracle on

Yeah I ain’t touching a ps6 for years unless that price tag is miraculous

I just bought a PS5 last year. I know I’m late in the cycle, but PS5 wasn’t even widely available for a year or two after it launched. It feels like we’re just now in the middle of the hardware cycle. I’d be fine if they held off on the PS6 till 2029-30. At minimum, I think they should give it until the memory shortage stabilizes.

    18. Glad I didn’t impulse buy the pro. I can even take 3 more years with the launch version.

    19. GalacticHotsauce on

we didn’t even get to play the ps5 during covid it was a nightmare it was unavailable because of mass scalpers and price was ridiculous from amazon etc. basically a whole a year without it id expect it late 2028

    20. GlockAmaniacs on

Are they going to launch a ratchet and clank game with it? Thats the only reason id buy one right away

    21. The industry is at a stalemate. Companies will keep pushing new products because they need to for profit but technology has reached a plateau, games barely look different from the last 7-8 years unless it’s one with a heavy artsyle or incredible polish. More power isn’t needed on ps5 or pc graphics cards, devs just need to learn to polish and optimize. The reason for stronger gpus is because devs have become lazy. It’s time players learn to value gameplay>graphics again so devs will focus on that instead of AI slop upscaling

    22. I think I’m done. The PS5 and my backwards compatible PS3 is good enough. There’s about 22,000 games to play.

    23. Have_A_Jelly_Baby on

2027 would be foolish with what’s going on with pricing.

      If a PS5 Pro is $900, a PS6 would be, what, $1,200? More?

Who beyond the whales and super fans are going to pay that?

    24. Its amazing to me how many people still do not understand that console development cycles are now planned years in advance. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have to purchase chip wafer allocation 4 to 5 years in advance. Otherwise the capacity at the fabs will not exist. The product roadmap is baked in. They simply cannot stop now. If they do they lose their place in line for years. Its not an option.

    25. Sony better pouring the money to support dev creating games that really utilise current gen console.

    26. Unless FFVII part 3 and Kingdom Hearts 4 is ps6 exclusive I don’t see a reason buy it
