Why Uncharted 4 Still Feels Next-Gen

    1. Can’t believe it’s been 10 years. Where has the time gone?

This was honestly one of the last games I truly loved. I don’t know if I aged out of them or what (30 now) but nothing has really captured me in the same way since. Need to try Red Dead 2 again because I couldn’t get into it the first time. Spider-Man was meh and God of War was really cool but it lost my interest about halfway through

    2. Uncharted games are what made me switch to PlayStation years ago. I even bought the vita because of the uncharted game.

    3. Literally replaying now. This and TLOU2 still for more advanced than any other games out.

Yes some match the graphics, some match the gameplay. But no game matches the graphics, gameplay, facial animation, action animations, and voice acting all in 1 package like naughty dog games

I thought it was the most amazing games I had ever played in my life many years back.

It’s literally what made me come to the realization that video might be better than movies currently, and that was some 10 years ago.

    5. I actually played about half of it a few months ago on my PS5 and I was sending my friends screenshots like a new game. I was like “How is this 10 years old?!”

Naughty Dog, Rockstar, SSM, CD Project and several others really are masters. Their games don’t still “hold up” they actually look better than a lot of games releasing today.Impressive stuff.

I got a platinum on that masterpiece and it holds a special place in my heart. Chapter 20 on crushing difficulty was brutallllllll. Took a lot of tries.

    7. Can you play this game and enjoy it as much without playing uncharted 1-3? I tried to start with 1 and beat it but hated it

This was the first game I played on ps4 and it blew my socks off, I hadn’t had video games in many years and I was awestruck at how far things had come. The next game? The Last of Us. Then I wanted a shooter, and I downloaded the platinum version or whatever of BF1. I was obliterated various aspects of those three games,

I just thought all new games were mind shatteringly stunning adventures and I had been missing out lmfao I was completely spoiled, nothing compares to that tsunami of masterpieces now. Have played lots of games since and I know now I just happened to pick up generational bangers

    9. I watched this video yesterday. Interesting it’s getting highlighted here.

Anyways, it resoundingly does NOT feel like next-gen.

“And how a game from 2016 still feels superior in almost every way”

Nothing about this comment passes muster.

The ONLY thing that Uncharted 4 does super well by modern standards is great character presentation values. This is arguably modern Naughty Dog’s speciality, but nothing else about the game would even remotely pass this same qualification of ‘meets next gen standards’ or ‘feels superior’ in any way at all.

The gameplay section of this video is especially ridiculous. It is basing their entire premise on that it is better than previous Uncharted games. Which is a very low bar to clear in terms of gameplay. There is no meaningful comparisons to other action-adventure games that do gameplay so much better at all. And he even spends a good part of the video criticizing UC4 here, recognizing a lot of this.

It sucks cuz I think there’s plenty to praise about UC4, but doing it in such a hyperbolic way just loses me.

It doesn’t feel next gen at all tho, I mean it looks great but not as good as TLOU 2 and the gameplay feels very PS3 era.

A lot of 10 year old games feel just as good if not better than their contemporaries. Truth is, things haven’t changed much and there was less revenues pressure a decade ago than there is now that makes games shit.
