Just wanted to warn anyone thinking of purchasing these. I had heard good things last year, and I am now regretting not returning them when I had the chance.
Bought a 1 year warranty at GameStop, its been 1 year and two months. Took them off today and the right side just snapped. Didn't remove it roughly, just did it one handed as I have done with every headset I have ever owned including my old PS Platinums, and this is what finally happened.
Its sad to see that Sony doesn't care about quality, only aesthetics. Had disconnect issues the entire time I owned them but I was willing to deal with it. This though is unacceptable. I refuse to ever buy another Sony headset again after this.

Yeah, they’re awful for the price. Sony tax.
Every post about these headphones are about them breaking.
I’ve been using one for 5 years now (since launch). I’ve replaced the earphones with pleather replacements, but otherwise haven’t had issues with it!
They really do seem like a terrible product.
I returned mine a couple weeks after buying them on release because I was having intermittent connection issues which made them pretty much useless to me if my headset randomly disconnected from the dongle when I was in the middle of playing.
Then as time went on I just kept seeing posts like this.
Sony is a consumer electronics company. They make electronics. I wonder why they couldn’t make good headphones.
My speakers blew out after barely using them. Total waste of money. Guess the Astro Bot soundtrack is just too much.
I’ve had mine since launch and never had a single issue. What are you guys doing to your headsets?
I have the same and I’ve been using it for a year now. Zero issue. Zero wear. I am touching it gently. How do you guys treat your electronics? Or you have a very big head? I do have a very big head myself so I don’t think it is about that.
Go buy some epoxy and attempt a fix, might look a lil ugly but there is a chance you can fix that
