      That’s sad.

I played the server slam and the game is really cool and unique. Lots of cool lore are there as well as great gunplay.

The enemy AI is pretty damn great as well. The genre isn’t my cup of tea, though.

Yeah.. Had a feeling this would be the case.

Granted 11k players isn’t like.. THE END OF THE WORLD. I’ve seen worse player counts for games not long after launch. So I’m sure it’ll be alive for a little while longer. Just for me? I was bummed when I heard Marathon was gonna be a extraction shooter and not something akin to the original games.

Alas, it is what it is and I can only hope for the future releases if they do another.

    3. Going free to play or shutting down. It’s a shame really. They need to give the genre a break.

    4. I genuinely enjoy this game, but it really wasn’t the right move for a big AAA studio like Bungie who could really use a hit right now.

    5. A few of my buddies all got the game. They all put some decent time into it and now they’ve gone back to ARC and Tarkov. Will have to see how console player bases are if the game will stick around.

Its not the type of game that’ll have a bunch of players hooked for years. Unfortunate, but I knew this is how it’d end it up.

Gunplay is great. Not every game can be goty. There are so many other games that its difficult to play it everyday, especially with a job and kids but its definitively not the Concord game weird people wanted it to be. A good cake for those who like extraction shooter cakes.

I love the art style, lore, shooting mechanics and overall gameplay and difficulty. It’s just the genre is a complete no-go for me. Oh, what I would give for good single player shooter built on the same themes as Marathon. Good 25h long campaign, PvP multiplayer with a couple of modes…

idk, averaging 20k players a day seems like a pretty solid base for a relatively niche genre

    10. Another live service succes in the extraction shooter genre. Who could’ve seen this coming.

    11. I’ll prob get downvoted but the fact that solo players like myself are locked out of content made me stop playing. Forcing solos to play with randoms in an extraction shooter is a bad choice. Also a lot of that community is toxic as hell and made me not wanna be part of it.

I still don’t get why they didn’t just give marathon the halo treatment:

      – a good compaign with the rich lore and a good story
      – “normal” multiplayer modes
      – and then a looter shooter like it is now

All the parts are there, they just needed to shuffle things

    13. Time gating cryo and ranked on top of withholding that information till a week* into release lmfao. I’m so disappointed with my purchase and wish a refund was an option 🙁 otherwise the game play is decent.. basically more destiny. Some appalling dev decisions but oh well gg no re

    14. Mught be that I’m an out of touch 40+ year old, but after seeing how good some of the Destiny campaigns could be (Forsaken, Witch Queen, Final Shape) I really wished they had revived Marathon as a single player campaign. I’d have even taken something that was pve focused with optional co-op like Borderlands.

I think going the niche genre live service route is going to be the nail in the coffin for Bungie, no matter how good the game actually feels to play.

I was in the beta and was immediately turned off. Not sure how anyone could pay for it, the game is not great. Very mediocre. Like a bunch of recent graduates made it.

    16. If 25k daily is considered dead then we might as well consider gaming a dead industry, which is a really stupid thing to even think btw.
