Hi everyone, quick question!
I recently bought a New Nintendo 3DS XL (blue) from a private seller online, and I noticed something a bit odd. The serial number on the console doesn’t match the one printed on the box.
Is this something normal, or should I be concerned?
Thanks in advance for your help!

box is probably from a different console, people buy boxes separately to complete a set all the time. IMO it shouldn’t change value unless the console is worth thousands.
If it was listed as boxed then it’s a little shady. With a box maybe. They might have had two based on the name on the box and accidentally got them switched out.
If your particular you could see if the seller sold another and see if you can contact or the seller contact the other party and make a swop. You might get lucky. Long shot though I know.
Take off the backplate on the 3DS. There is another S/N sticker. See if that sticker matches either of the S/Ns you currently have. Might clue you in on what is original and what is mixmastered.
Might be worth checking the serial under the battery cover. Undo those two screws (they’re captive screws Phillips #00) and unclip from the sides starting at the hinge end and work forward, it’ll lever out at the front.
