    1. Seems about right. Think lack of items is a bigger issue than Pokemon though. I can understand the Pokemon more vs items not being there on launch.

    2. I think if they’d just said this was a beta, no one would be that upset. It’s not completely terrible or anything. It’s just super barebones and missing a lot things. It would be a perfectly acceptable early access product. Should have just made the first battle pass free, called it early access, and let people test it for a month or two. But that isn’t the Pokemon way, unfortunately.

It would be fine if it wasn’t for the massive bugs, crashes, and connection issues. Also, the optimization for switch 2 is terrible. If this want to be the main battle game they have serious patch work to do here… I play this and immediately want to go to scarlet + violet.

I personally don’t really see much of an issue with the lack of Pokémon/items. Everyone has access to the same stuff, and it’s a competitive game at the end of the day, so all it does is create a different sort of environment. The glitches and overall lack of polish is a much bigger issue. The lack of stuff to do as well — obviously I’m not expecting a story or anything, but the game feels like it could have done with some Battle Tower type of single player content aimed at teaching people competitive strategy.

    5. Listen it’s a game for a super small group of people. Many people are going to check it out because it’s free and it’s a Pokemon game but realistically the players who this is made for are few and far between. It needs to be tailored to that small group and nobody else, unless they want to add single player features for fans of the Pokemon games.

It’s a beginning meta right now. This game will be going on for a decade or more. Play the current meta and things will be evolving over time.

It wouldn’t make sense to launch a game with every item, every pokemon, and every gimmick all at once.

This is a very balanced meta game at the moment

    7. I’m sorry but this is a joke of a review if they can’t mention performance a single time. We are in 2026 people. 30fps for low polygon and no open world scope is not acceptable. Considering that Scarlet/Violet can run a stable 60fps now on switch 2. I don’t see a reason to play competitive pokemon on this version of the game.

    8. I’m enjoying it, takes me right back to Stadium and Colosseum. It is a little light content wise, but so was Pokémon Go on launch as well.

I did expect them to have most Pokemon already in game, at least the first few gens available, maybe not legendaries yet. But I guess that’s what keeps people coming back to check out new set releases. Pretty standard there.

But overall, pretty great graphics on my switch 2, I do notice Mega Gengar clipping through the bottom of the map but that’s it. Solid gameplay and it’s fun watching the meta develop.

Can’t wait to see what else they do with it!

The game seems perfectly fine to me. But then again, I just play video games.
