Hey there! So when I was a young teen around 2014/15 I had gotten a New Nintendo 3DS for my birthday after originally having a Nintendo DSI for years! I transferred all my save data from the DSI to the New 3DS but I remember I had started playing the new super mario bros game when the 3DS started freaking out on me. I wasn't able to tap the screen and it was like the device was detecting relentless buttons being hit when I wasn't pressing anything. I turned it off and on and it seemed to work for about 2 minutes before freaking out again. It continued doing this and I didn't know what to do at that age. I didn't bring it back to the store I got it from because of being quite an anxious kid at that age and didn't want to cause a fuss (I'm a well integrated adult now and thankfully don't think like this anymore).
Anyway I found my 3DS again the other day and it would be a dream to be able to play it but I know warranty and technical support isn't really a thing anymore so I'm posting this on the odd chance someone recognises this specific problem and knows a fix? I have tried looking online over the years and recently again when I found it but so far no luck. Any help at all would be amazing! 🙏

If I had to guess, the digitiser in the bottom screen needs replacing which us a bit of a hassle to replace. From what I’ve read, I think you can replace just the digitiser but I’m also under the impression you can also buy digitiser + screen combos that make replacements easier but slightly more expensive.
Good luck with it! Might be worth getting some professional help with it because ik DS repairs in general are a real pain.
It could be the digitiser, or a dirty screen, or dirt trapped near the edge. Or it could be a faulty circle pad or d pad. All quite easy to resolve, particularly the circle pad.
