How did I miss this for so long?

I’m not sure if I’m just out of the loop, and this game is a beloved classic I missed. But Abzu is one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever played.

The soundtrack is unbelievable, the story and gameplay beautifully understated, and the world design and ocean scape are so immersive. A kind of Fantasia meets Dire Dire Docks, I came away so impressed with everything Giant Squid put into this experience.

It’s such a different kind of game, no dialogue, no explanations or tutorials. All visual storytelling, all left up to you to figure out. I thought only Journey would ever give me this kind of gaming experience. Glad I was wrong.
