Wii Sports currently has 82.9 million known sales. If you do not count it then we can use Mario Kart 8 deluxe 71.08 million known sales. Both of these are very high but it is not impossible for a Switch 2 game to reach/surpass these sales in who knows how long.
Nintendo has proven that some of their recent-ish games can prove high numbers. Animal Crossing New Horizons, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, The Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Super Mario Odyssey being their 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 11th best selling games respectively. The Switch 2 is the very next generation so Nintendo should still know how to really market their games to get them to sell splendidly.
The biggest downside so far is that the Switch 2 itself has not sold enough to reach this yet. 19.86 million sales is still very good for this early onto the consoles lifespan but it would have to get much better before we can even think about such an absolute success. Their best selling game as of right now is Mario Kart World with only 14.7 million copies (which is still great generally but not the kind of numbers we are looking for right now.
I want to know if you think the Nintendo Switch 2 has the potential to get one of these very high sales? It doesn't necessarily need to be top 2 but it could possibly be top 20 or even top 10.
