Crossposting this because I’ve been spending a lot of time back in Dreams recently, and it’s reminded me just how strange a corner of PlayStation it became.
I went digging through creations rather than just looking at the most popular stuff and ended up with seven games and three other little experiments that I thought were worth showing.
There’s an egg riding a motorbike, a Western twin-stick boss rush, an underwater exploration game, a surprisingly complete recreation of the PS1 version of Space Invaders, something that is absolutely definitely not Star Fox, and a tiny game about Nessie looking for her toys.
None of these are necessarily masterpieces — that’s kind of the point of the video — but they all had something interesting enough about them that I was glad I found them.
Dreams was such an unusual thing for PlayStation to release in the first place, and years later there’s still an enormous amount of weird stuff buried in it that most people will probably never see.
