I haven’t seen this game mentioned at all in this subreddit so I thought I’d leave a recommendation here for it as I believe it deserves more recognition. It came out last July.
It’s one of those games that is difficult to write about as it’s best to go in completely blind but the basic premise is that a group of 11 people are taken via boat to a mysterious theme park called Yurukill land. They are split into teams and within each team there are prisoners and executioners. The prisoners wear a yurukill ring around their neck and can be killed at any time by the executioners. There is a lengthy demo on the eshop that is several hours long so anyone curious can download it to see if they would like the game. At the time of writing the game is also on sale, at least in the EU region.
It is a visual novel game with puzzle elements and shoot em up stages developed by G.rev. The puzzles have a hint system so if you aren’t very good at puzzles like me you will never be stuck on one and be prevented from progressing. The shmup stages are very well done and I found them extremely enjoyable despite never having really played a shmup before. Don’t worry if you don’t have a clue what you’re doing at first, it’s pretty self explanatory and there is an easy mode for beginners who don’t play shmups usually which is what I chose.
I found the story very engaging and I was up at 2am last night coz I had to know how it ended.
