I did a deep dive on some of the details from Japanese sources for Super Mario RPG Remake and found some cool new features that I think most people didn’t notice.

**Sound Player**
You can unlock this by completing the game once, and it will play all tracks from the game in both Switch and SNES versions. Some of them are also locked by default and you have to unlock them, so unlocking all the tracks might be a new collectible. You probably just have to hear them each once to unlock them, but the source hypes up that players should ‘look forward to figuring out how to unlock all the tracks’ so there might be some hidden tracks only available via obscure methods.
The one locked in the image below, No. 46, comes right after Monstro Town (No. 45), so it’s pretty clearly the Culex BGM. Hopefully there are more unexpected locked ones in here but we’ll see.

**Monster List**
This is a cool one, you can see the stats of Monsters directly from a menu. Unfortunately doesn’t seem to have ATK/DEF etc., but you can see what Status effects they are weak to and more. There’s also some ‘Fun Facts’ which the source mentions are newly written jokes about each monster.
* HP
* Exp. Points
* Effective elements
* Effective status conditions
* Dropped items
* Dropped rare items
* Locations found
* Number defeated
* Psychopath text
* Fun facts about the monster
The source also points out that the info is filled in as you ‘investigate’ each monster, and particularly mentions the Psychopath text, so you might actually need to use Psychopath on every monster to get all the info in the Monster List. This is probably gonna be a pretty big goal for 100% completionists.

[The fun fact says ‘This monster’s full name is \\”Bluish-Grey Dog\\”, but due to character limitations it has been shortened to \\”Greydog\\”.’](https://preview.redd.it/9x5ay8fuo7sb1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=40add4f2cdcdfc485e4c8d04169e5164d3adb52a)

**Triple Move Attacks**
The Japanese site listed a few of these that weren’t included anywhere in Western sources. They even have names in Japanese – the names below are my translations and will probably be different in the official translation.

|Invincible Spike Shell|Mario / Peach / Bowser|Uses a Star to make an Invincible Shell and hits all enemies with it.|
|:-|:-|:-|
|Star Riders|Mario / Mallow / Geno|Hits all enemies with a combo attack using the power of the Star Pieces.|
|Protecting Veil|Mario / Peach / Geno|Creates a shining light veil to protect the party from any attacks.|
|Spark-Freeze-Fire Big Bomb|Mario / Mallow / Bowser|The one shown in the Nintendo Direct clip. Deals Thunder, Fire, and Ice damage that targets all enemies in battle.|
Looks like Mario / Peach / Geno is still the go-to. Do I hear free Red Essences that affect the whole party?

**Other Points:**
I’ve seen others post about Easy Mode and switching between Switch/SNES music during gameplay already so I won’t go into those, but there are a few other interesting options shown on the menu screen that weren’t in the original game.
* Switch between walk/dash
* Switch battle button arrangements (Type A/B options)
* Battle selection skip (not sure what this is but maybe Auto-Battle? A random Japanese forum I found seemed to also think this implies an Auto-Battle feature)
* Ability to Save at any time outside of battle
* A Help menu added to both the out-of-battle menu, and the in-battle menu under the ‘other actions’ menu along with Defend and Run
