is that a 3rd party controller? these “glob tops” are usually used in cheaper electronics
I don‘t know if it is an official controller or not but this „blobs“ from what I know are used to make it impossible to know what part is used to prevent other people or companys to make a clone of the device.
There is some poorly done soldering/rework in some areas on the top of your image. It’s not normal. Your photo isn’t high enough resolution to say how bad that is.
The blob in the center is likely potting epoxy put there in the factory during manufacture and is normal.
