The PS5 is still a huge success and selling well. I know people bring up the issues of consoles plateuing and budget/length issues but there is always going to be a market for people who want a console to just play COD, 2k, GTA, fortnite with friends and the Playstation does extremely well with that market. And even then their high budget games don’t flop because they are market tested and have mass appeal like God of War and Spiderman.
Xbox is the only one really having major identity crisis issues and consumer confidence issues, I don’t think people can say the same about Playstation. They are still the defacto top traditional home console brand, Steam and Nintendo go after different markets.

Probably not. There’s a lot more market forces at work here. People love brand loyalty, and gaming franchises love being brand-loyal too.

Absolutely not:
– Playstation home consoles always sell well and has been a strong brand for years. They’ll absolutely be around in a decade.
– Epic owns the Unreal Engine and Fortnite, they’re staying
– Apple has the mobile market and is heading into the VR market
And more broadly there could always be a new company that comes along.

Just have valve make a console at this point, let it have steam access. Is that logically feasible? Very likely not, would it be amazing and sell like hot cakes? Yes, I think so.

I’m gonna be the minority here and say Xbox will be fine
