Gonna be picking up a Series X from Costco later today, I’m having a hard time deciding if I mount it below my soundbar, or I drill a hole and run a HDMI cord thru the wall, mounting it out of sight.
I know my TV is too damn high. Currently have my Apple TV mounted behind tv.
I’d do a small drill hole and patch afterwards if needed

I’d try to prioritize standing the Xbox on end rather than having it horizontally. I had mine vertically for like 3 years and then one day I decided to try a horizontal setup in basically the same place and I got a message from the console warning me it was overheating. They designed it to stand upright so all the heat can climb up and out that massive vent, so I’d try to make sure whatever you do can allow it to operate that way.

I read rumors about a slim version of the series x, think that will happen this year?

Between those two options I’d hide it away, provided it could get proper airflow. If you place it under the soundbar it’ll need to sit a few inches away from the wall as the air intake is in the back of the unit.

I have mine mounted to the wall behind the tv. Not sure how much room you have there, but the mount was reasonably priced and works great. Really liked not having to run wires a certain way to keep them out of sight.
