Turning on overscan on your TV will remove them. Just make sure to turn it back off when you’re done.

If you can’t overscan it manually on your TV, get the evWii app and adjust the settings for it to crop the sides in. Just note that some games actually do display to the full 704×480 area; the problem is every game has differing amounts of borders based on if they want to save on resources by rendering less pixels or something such.
Someone put down the settings for cropping all the black borders of the Wii menu [here](https://gbatemp.net/threads/fixing-vwii-mode.573265/post-10118009). Just note that some games may still have a little more borders than this, but it should be less likely that you’ll spot any this way.
