    June Nintendo Direct speculation/discussion thread



    This upcoming Nintendo Direct this month is generating a lot more hype than usual, so we're making this thread as a place to speculate and discuss it.

    What we know

    • There will be a Nintendo Direct this month.
    • It will not contain any mention of Nintendo's next console.
    • (Source for both claims)

    What we don't know

    • We don't know the date or time of the Direct.
    • We don't know what games will be in the Direct.

      I once had a dream where there was a LoZ game where you played as gannondorf. It was set in OoT where you go and kill all the sages and take over the temples. The game ends with you taking over hyrule castle. I woke up from that dream and was upset that it wasn’t real

      Zelda remasters, Metroid Prime 4, FE4 remake, Dragon Quest 3 (possibly trilogy?) HD-2D remakes is what I think we’ll see.

      Nintendo releases a Zelda game every year

      * 2017 – BOTW
      * 2018 – Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition & Zelda 1 (NSO)
      * 2019 – Link’s Awakening & Cadence of Hyrule & Zelda 2 (NSO) & A Link to the Past (NSO)
      * 2020 – Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
      * 2021 – The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD & OOT (NSO) & Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda
      * 2022 – Majora’s Mask (NSO)
      * 2023 – TOTK & Link’s Awakening (NSO) & Oracles games (NSO) & The Minish Cap (NSO)

      We have nothing in 2024 so far; I’m pretty sure they will announce something at the Direct

      – Metroid Prime 4

      – Samus Returns Remastered

      – Donkey Kong Country Returns Remastered

      – a new Mario Baseball

      – new Wario Land or a remake of the first one

      – Banjo Tooie, Diddy Kong Racing, and Perfect Dark on NSO

      I would love a Xenosaga HD Remaster. With Xenoblade 3’s references to Xenosaga and the recent remaster of Baten Kaitos, it’s not totally out of the realm of possibility.

      Banjo Threeie, Paper Mario: Return of the Traditional Gameplay, Super Mario Iliad, Legend of Zelda: Breathtears of the Wild Kingdom, Metroid Prime 4

      I’m huffing so much copium for this, but if Nintendo needs a quick game to fill out the last year of the Switch’s life as well as use the Switch’s popularity to revive interest in a dormant series, this would be the perfect time to announce a Rhythm Heaven game.

      Hoping for info on new 3D mario, Fe remake/remaster (tellius 2 in 1, please), new ip would be cool. Classic pokemon games on Switch online would be nice. I am predicting 1 last thing will be a teaser for a new Mario Kart

      With a new console around the corner, realistically it should just be smaller games. Anything from bigger franchises would be saved for the switches successor.

      If we get something related to Metroid prime and legend of Zelda I’ll be happy.

      We have to have a Metroid Prime 4 update at SOME point, so now seems as good a time as any. Plus, after the success of the remaster of Prime 1, I can totally see them announcing a remake of the second game.

      I’d also been down with a rerelease of Star Fox Zero. Without the forced tilt controls, I think it’d be a much better game and get a MUCH better reception. Plus, it’s one of the few big WiiU first party titles that hasn’t seen a rerelease on Switch.

      I know we got a port of Tropical Freeze for Switch, but surely SOMEONE has been working on a new Donkey Kong game over the past decade. I know rumors were swirling that the Mario Odyssey team was working on a DK game, so that’d be cool if it were true. But if Retro Studios is too busy with Metroid Prime 4, then dare I suggest…Playtonic?

      More wishful thinking, but it’d also be really cool to see some DLC for Super Mario RPG.

      Just 1 original Nintendo developed game for the fall please.

      I get they’re probably holding back the larger titles for the next console, but if it’s all remakes and remasters that’ll be kind of disappointing.

      Nintendo always gives surprises so Im predicting Pikmin Racer, a Pikmin game with Mario Kart features!

      Setting myself up for disappointment, but ports for Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD. Realistically, more farming sims and some highly obscure JRPG remasters/remakes

      I prophecy that the switch will continue to be supported as a mobile console and Nintendo will announce the GameCube 2 as the next home console with many sequels to beloved GameCube games being released on it.

      Also 15-20 JRPG/Farming sims

      There are plenty of titles I would love to see announced on the Switch soon, mostly Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Fire Emblem and Xenoblade Chronicles content if possible.

      The fact that they specifically said their new console won’t be mentioned in this direct, it’s as if, in some way, they’re telling people to keep their expectations in check.

      This will probably be the last large direct we ever get for the original Switch – so I’m expecting a closer of sorts.

      I know the twilight princess wind waker discussion is like beating a dead horse but I really do think now would be a good time for them

      WHERE IS METROID PRIME 4?! And when will these goddamn ports of Prime 2&3 release? I hope the delay for P2&3 means they’ll go for a P1 remaster instead of the Pikmin1&2 straight up port tactic after seeing the reception of P1.

      Xenoblade X and Wind Waker please. I know they are prepping for Switch 2 so not expecting much

      I just want wind waker, never got to play it back in the day and don’t feel like tracking down a GameCube and copy of it lol

      I think we’ll see something Donkey Kong related, remasters of Metroid Prime 2 and maybe 3, and a Zelda Wind Waker remaster.

      Also a bunch of farming sims

      I actually think this could be the year that we get either Twilight Princess or Wind Waker on switch, given there doesn’t seem to be much for holiday title(s) yet. But I’ve though that everytime there wasn’t a set in stone holiday title, so we’ll see.
