    1. Donkey Kong Country is my favorite platformer franchise, but are people really excited for ANOTHER $60 port of a 15 year old game

    2. I’d like to point out this game has been on China’s nintendo console thing in HD using full button controls along with Mario Galaxy for a really long time now. Putting this as a January release instead of just releasing it later today frustrates me.

I love DK Country Returns, but I am not paying 80$ canadian for this with no new feature LOL

    4. Knowing Nintendo this will be $60. Good for these who haven’t played the game through.

    5. Considering that Tropical Freeze was already on the Switch I was wondering when we would see the first game in the Returns series on the Switch. I’m glad to know it’s coming. 🙂

Cool to see both games on the Switch now, DKCR was a fun time when I went through it on the Wii, and it’s cool they’re sliding in the 3DS exclusive levels I never got to try.

While it’s good DK finally got something, a bigger 3D adventure like Kirby Forgotten Land would have been mind blowing.

I thought they were gonna add new content like a character at least

Now the Donkey Kong Country part of Super Nintendo World makes WAY more sense now.

Actually kind of pissed to see that after 10 years this is all they have done with the franchise.

Gonna get downvoted, but talk about pointless port.
Why play this when I can play tropical freeze instead, which is better than this game

    12. So on the one hand, DKCR is a fantastic game and I’m glad even more people will get to play it without forced motion controls.

On the other hand, we already had Tropical Freeze ported to Switch which is just an objectively better game in the series. Also it got me excited only to realize this was NOT a new DKC game like I was hoping.

If you never played this for Wii, or especially didn’t play it on 3DS, pick it up, you won’t be disappointed.

    13. 60 bucks for a re-re-port. They could have at least bubdled it with Tropical Freeze

I feel this is a bit of a bittersweet announcement that opens up quite a bit of speculation. Do they have NOTHING DK related in the pipeline? Or are they saving THAT for the Switch 2?

    15. This was the worst thing announced in the entire Direct, considering the years of rumors leading to this. A sad blemish on what was, otherwise, one of the very best Switch-era Directs we’ve ever gotten.

    16. My 5 cents, the upcoming in house DK game is a 3d sequel to tropical freeeze, developed by nintendo tokyo but with support from retro and with Returns itll make the whole trilogy available on switch 1 and 2

    17. This was part of the direct that made me mad. DK hasn’t have a new adventure since Tropical Freeze and is currently the only main Nintendo IP that doesn’t have a new entry on the switch. I mean, we could’ve had a plotline where Kong Island is getting mechanized a la Planet Robobot and he has to rescue his brainwashed friends each world and fight a mechanized K Rool. Welp, if this sells well, maybe switch 2 will finally let him, Diddy and the rest of the Kongs shine.

Well, if it’s anything like the original by the time you’re done the game, you’ll need the new Switch 2 from throwing yours against the wall too many times

    19. Finally! Now all five Donkey Kong Country games are playable on Switch. Can’t wait to enjoy binging them!

    20. I’ve played the original game on Wii and 3DS so many times that I don’t care about this, but I’m glad that there’s now a definitive version of the game instead of two versions with upsides and downsides.

    21. See, I’ve been saying for months now that the Zelda fans just need to cool it with expecting yet another TP/WW port. They’re getting their thrills while others series aren’t getting as much attention. This is good to see and as Wii game, I. Sure this greatly needs the HD enhancement.

I mean I happy that they see that DK is a loved franchise and I’m happy playing it on the switch. But jesus, why don’t they do a new plattformer for him? They even put him in the movie and an area in the theme park..

    23. RhoadsOfRock on

      Goddamn finally!

I’ve been wanting this since before Tropical Freeze was put on the Switch!

Now if they can just put Epic Mickey on the Switch..

Nice to see this get a refresher but I expected to see this be a shadow drop but the fact that it’s not out until JANUARY is just odd

    25. If you’re a long time DK fan, then this is just super disappointing.

I guess I’m happy that more people will get to experience the game, because it is good and more DK exposure bodes well for the future.

The only thing I can hope for is that the rumoured DK game that’s been around for years isn’t ready to show and this was hastily thrown together to take its spot… could explain the Jan release date as well. Or they want to save it for the Switch 2 and they want something DK to lead into that.

But yeah, just super deflating. Not gonna get all angry at Nintendo because of “but what about ME”-ism, but can’t hide the disappointment of waiting over 10 years for a new game in the series.
