Today I found out All Xboxes since the X1s support 100gb UHD Blu-rays but didn't release games as a holdover of the OG bulky Xbox not supporting it.
Chart of supported Blu-Ray formats with only the OG Xbox One missing
What made me aware was Alan Wake Developers revealed that the Xbox Physical release of the game will require additional download. (https://x.com/TimePirateNinja/status/1800071411354194279) John Linneman and Digital Foundry elaborated, on their DF Direct #167, that it is a result of the retained support of the older 50gb blue ray format.

This is really disheartening because the physical versions of games are the preserved versions of those titles for the next generations. Digital stores and delisting of games makes the physical versions much more valuable to users' years after the consoles are gone.
Hopefully Xbox opens the gates for 100gb Blu-rays in the near future for Series X and beyond

I thought it was just because it’s cheaper to use two 50GB discs. (Oh, when typing, the lowercase b equals bit, whereas uppercase B equals Byte.)
Happy motoring!
For fucks sake, this shit is being parroted around lately as fact when it isn’t due to compatibility. The drive is not capable of reading 100GB. They cut costs by going with a cheaper 50GB drive for the Series X. End of story. Try playing a 100GB+ Bluray Movie on a Series X and see how badly it plays.
Edit: Downvote Facts and Upvote Misinformation. Just another day on Reddit.
To the lazy ones, here’s the proof: https://imgur.com/7UM4Ig8
It would have been INCREDIBLY unfair and unpopular if suddenly new Xbox One games, in the middle of the same generation, couldn’t be played on an OG Xbox One. Forcing those who still prefer physical into buying an entirely new Xbox.
It’s also not like games are physically preserved anymore fully anyways. They do exist, sure, but the vast majority of games require at least one online check/download before first time play
EDIT: Not to mention that games and textures are getting the point that discs just aren’t fast enough. The Xbox One X used a 6x Blu Ray which is a snail compared to the Series X/S SSD
