He brings great love and design but the company does have some old school mentalities when it comes to a lot of things. Hopefully it will be like a Reggie situation.

There’s gonna be five golden tickets in the next Mario game…

As much as I love his contributions and want them to continue, poor Shigsy is 71 and well overdue a comfy retirement to relax and enjoy more free time by now. He has definitely earned it. And multiple statues. And the freedom of Kyoto.
That said I’m out of the loop so no idea how many hours he clocks in his current role.

I mean, hasn’t he already done that? Eiji Aonuma takes care of Zelda, Yoshiaki Koizumi takes care of 3D Mario, now, tbf, Takashi Tezuka is still overseeing 2D Mario, so perhaps someone will need to take over for him. Miyamoto seems more interested in Movies, Attractions, and Pikmin Bloom in his golden years at Nintendo.

I do hope he sticks around for as long as he’s passionate. It’s especially apparent in pikmin 4 but he is still a great visionary

He’s going to retire but still have an office at HQ he goes to everyday, like Nick Saban at Alabama

Well, it would not be a smart decision to hand it over to someone older. He is 71 years old

Shigeru you need to allow the youth to make games with their own vision, no more suggestions.

Could we *please* get some young minds into the online infrastructure development team?
If there is one thing Nintendo is still frustratingly behind on, it’s their Online space. I can deal with all their other annoying quirks, but their lack of a strong online integration on the level of PlayStation/Xbox is beyond frustrating

Nobody likes to think about it, but the basic same handful of big name people have been making games at Nintendo since the freaking 80s. These people are going to step down for retirement or health reasons sooner than we’d like, but the new generation is going to be running the show any minute now. Splatoon is a shining example of something new from Nintendo that is only possible by younger team members, so I have nothing but confidence with whoever will be taking the reigns from here.

I know it’s a job no one would want, but I’ll volunteer as tribute. You’re all welcome for my sacrifice.

Gotta make sure it’s someone passionate. When the old guard of Nintendo are all replaced someday, it can’t just be former EA execs or Nintendo is cooked.

Would be nice if it’s someone that wouldn’t allow lawyers to send someone to prison over mod chips.

Well. I guess life is finally opening a door for me, an average American gamer with no business experience. I humbly accept the responsibility Miyamoto sensei

I’m so scared of someone else taking over, especially when he’s done such a good job.
Luckily, this isn’t America. If someone “younger” was in charge of an entertainment company, there’s a higher chance they’d take things in a direction not many would like…

Why do you hate SF6 dlc? Id much rather it be the way it is than having to buy a whole new edition of the game with new characters and updates like used to be standard in fighting games.

I want nintendo open the door to official nes, gb, snes, and n64 development again. There are so many awesome independent people make games for those consoles. It might niche but it would be cool to see official development for those old consoles again.
