Just a little water one day did all that damage. It just completely flaked off, but it's stopped since. I thought it might look okay with all the coating off, but I don't know, it just looks so-so. I thought about painting it a long time ago but I haven't gone through with it.
Any idea why these are so prone to flaking?

It makes me so sad. My gold triforce 3ds did this. Big grey spot in the middle of flaky gold 😞
