Legends Z-A DLC: Every New Mega w/ @LoreKeeperToby
The new DLC for Pokemon Legends ZA is specifically called Mega Dimension. So, I called up my friend Loreke keeper Toby to discuss every single new Mega Evolution we could see in this new DLC. All right, Toby, we are getting new mega evolutions in this DLC. So, my first category are a bunch of new starter mega evolutions. Everyone thought it was so weird that the legend ZA starters, Chikorita, Toadile, and Teepe were paired together because two of those are from Johto. Oh, that’s so weird. And if we’re speculating that those are going to get mega evolutions just like the Kos mega evolutions, I would say there’s a pretty good shot that we could see a mega tyloian to complete the Johto set as well as a mega superior and samurat to complete that Tepe that you set of starters. What do you think about that? That’s really interesting because obviously when they announced the starters, my feeling was quite strongly that we would get regional variants to match up with the uh Huian like Tyloian all that stuff. However, that said, I think if we were going to get regional variants, we would kind of know, but I think like it would be weird that they hadn’t marketed any, which kind of does suggest that yeah, we’re going to get megas. And if we’re going to get megas, then I It’s interesting cuz I thought you were going to go the other way. I thought you were going to suggest that we get like a mega poplio lit and uh superior anyway for the reasons of filling out the other evolution lines. But it’s interesting what you’re saying about going back and and and getting those other ones. And I’m actually I don’t hate it. I don’t hate it. Like I could see it. It would leave a a sort of slightly strange thing in that Tyloian would have a Huian form and a mega evolution as would samur for example and then Rowlet’s just kind of weirdly got its own huian form. It is a little strange but you know I think Pokemon kind of does love to do the yoink and twist and like change expectations and haha you thought I was going over there. We got two mess you know. Yeah. All right. Yeah. Yeah. Right. Right. So, I I I actually could see it, you know, but that’s actually I didn’t even think about the Alolan starters and you’re absolutely right. The two Pokemon that I mentioned like they encompass most of the Legends Arus uh starter trio. So, you’re right. Yeah. I didn’t even think about reverse way thinking about it, but I I I kind of like it. I I I don’t I’m I’m here for that. Were there Were there other starters? Well, I think that the So, the my my thinking is that like we have already I think three Kencho Hoen and Kos. Yeah. Yeah. So then they would be adding Yova and Johto and Unova and Johotto. Those are the two games that we love to talk about and how the fact that they haven’t received new games or any sort of attention in so long. I don’t really count Blade Academy. So it’s nice to see that maybe those, you know, maybe those games aren’t getting remakes, but their starters are going to get the the Sinno starters got no new forms of love and now probably just won’t for eight for a while. But I I no, I I I actually kind of agree with this. Can I I I actually want to pitch two of my own. I I only there are only two more mega evolutions that I consciously think like we’re going to get. So I think the DLC is going to give us I mentioned this in a new video of mine about the mega dimension. I think it’s going to give us Mega Latio Latas. I think it’s going to give us like maybe Zusal. I think that’s a card that kind of I think the Mega Dimension is tied to XY which is why we’re getting these two mega Raichu XY. I wonder because we actually haven’t seen at any of the promo material Blastoise of Venusaur. Yes. I wonder if we’re going to get a second Blastoise of Venusaur and retroactively like Blastoise will become Mega Blastoise Y and the new one is X and then Venusaur will be X and the other one the old one Y. I kind of think that’s going to happen. I I wouldn’t be surp we have not seen them advertised anywhere and that’s just strange to me. So, I kind of think the DLC might do something. And in and something that I just saw in my friend Trader Lumy’s video. So, in his video he mentions that on debut, Mega Mewtwo Y was only spoken as Mega Mewtwo and then later it was revealed to be Mega Mewtwo Y. And that was kind of nice cuz I was thinking about our conversation today and I’m like they could just retcon like they could just slap on an X on something. And can I just say, does it not symbolically work that the only Pokemon to maybe have XY spplit mega evolutions are Charizard, Blastos, Venusaur, Mewtwo, Raichu? Yeah, kind of like that kind of makes sense. It does in a weird sort of symbolic full circle kind of way. In my new video, I talk about I was watching your video and I loved how you described uh that, you know, potentially we could be going to the X and Y dimension, right? basically. And I don’t totally know what that would exactly look like, but No, me neither. But but it’s cool, right? Like I I I that’s a cool thought. And it got me thinking, right? Pokemon Legends Z2A. We haven’t really I feel like there could be a misdirect going on where in the video game there is a Z to A Royale, right? And that’s the misdirect as fans. But what we could see in the DLC is that actually Z to A could represent a spectrum of different mega dimensions that Hoopa could give us access to. And all we’ve ever seen are random megas that couldn’t be assigned uh one of those, you know, lettered, you know, dimensions. And we’ve seen very specifically mega evolutions. I understand. How do you Why are you putting the emphasis on the two there? That is not part of the name. It’s Z- A. Yeah, dash that is there. It’s Z dash A. It’s ZA. It’s Z. What’s the two? What’s the two? Like we’re just inventing a word and it’s not a word. And I’m saying it’s like think of all the letters together. The Z all the way backwards. I I get I I do get it. I I’m being I’m being a prick, but like I I I do think I do, you know, genuinely because it is interesting that when the title was first revealed like 2 years ago, lots of people went, “No, it’s Z2A.” Like that was that was not just you. That is like a common discussion point. And I’m not saying that that’s wrong if that’s how people read the hyphen and maybe that’s how the hyphen dash should be read. But like I do think that AZ’s name for example is about a beginning and an end. and ZA is about an end and a beginning, but the fact that there are there are letters in between. There is like a whole journey in between. Sure. And I do kind of like what you’re saying, but I guess the question is is what you’re suggesting that we’re going to get like Mega Flygon G like I don’t know. Is that what you’re sort of suggesting? I I’m smiling right now because I think maybe like it’d be so in the rest of this video, a bunch of my other categories. I want to just be thinking about this that like all we really know is that like okay a Pokemon can get a mega evolution but since the dawn of mega evolution we’ve known about the X and Y forms and I think there’s a pretty good through line that both like an X or a Y Mega Evolution kind of does something and I haven’t really actually dissected this on Raichu but Mega Mewtwo sorry Mega Mewtwo Y and Mega Charizard Y seem to be pulling from their ancestral DNA, right? Mewtwo pulls from MeW and you have Charizard pulling from its innate ability to fly, where the X forms go literally beyond what their base form is capable of. Both Pokémon gaining a new type. I guess we don’t see that with Raichu. But what I’m trying to say is like, well, we we we sort of do. We No, we sort of do in that um if so the Pokemon the Pokemon website suggests that um Pikachu sorry Mega Raichu Y takes more like looks a lot more like Pikachu and the X looks a lot more like Raichu and so in that sense you’re you’re hearkening back stage which is which is similar to like how Dragonite is taking traits from Dragon Air like it’s kind of similar thing. So, I I don’t think that’s like a totally like offthe-wall take, but I do think we have such a small sample size. I wouldn’t want to say that like all Y Pokemon must be some more X Pokemon, you know? But I it’s interesting. What what I’m thinking about though is Mhm. and again, this might not even be canonized, but I I guess what it does excite me is that Hoopa is opening Hoopa is not just giving us access to new keystones. These aren’t being uncovered in ZA. They are coming from other dimensions. So like yeah, something’s going to go on here. And they might not just they might not lay it out as obvious as this. Cuz to be honest, if we get Mega Flygon G, that sounds so stupid. Just give us Mega Flygon, right? It just sounds stupid, right? But what I’m trying to imagine, like I think this helps me imagine that we could see additional like mega evolutions for things that already have megas or for things that it wouldn’t make sense for them to get a mega. Like I’m like the possibilities are endless. Like I I think we’re going to say some weird stuff. I was listening to someone’s video. It might have been not so age trainer. I’m not sure. But it was really wonderful. And they pitched the idea that the mega like if you imagine the the Pokemon universe that we’re playing is a universe where the ultimate weapon fired 3,000 years ago causing certain Pokémon to get access to Mega Stones. Perhaps in a different universe where the weapon did fire or didn’t fire or a different event happened, different Pokemon got access to Mega Evolution in much the same way that like in the Yeah, I think this is not so trainer. In the opening cut scene, he pointed out today, the opening cut scene of XY depending on which one you watch, the energy of the ultimate weapon, it’s either red or blue because it’s using either Zus or Valk. And as a result, in those games, you can only get Charizard Y or Charizard X, Mewtwo X, Mewtwo Y. And so what that suggests, which I love, is the idea that the Mega Evolutions coming from the Mega Dimension aren’t lit are literally from other dimensions in which they don’t exist in our main timeline. Like they they’ve they are from dimensions where Mega Evolution just happened a bit differently. Yeah. So, or different Pokemon got affected, you know, and like if we’re going to take that thought even further, I’m thinking about now like is it possible for an ultimate weapon to be fueled by a different legendary Pokemon, you know, or things that they don’t even necessarily need to explain. So, I’m looking forward to it. Right. Um, okay. So, that’s my theory and I think you you you did answer my question where it’s like uh mega evolution stones are fueled and mega evolution it is fueled by the energy of Xernius and Volatile. So, that’s cool. Um, and that was my next my next bullet point where it’s like here’s the weird theory. Could we be seeing Charizard Z? Could we be seeing Blastoise Z or Blastoise Y? Like it doesn’t matter, right? It’s just like an additional evolution for things that maybe already have it, which is cool. Like think about like a new Mewtwo. How sick is that? C would actually rock that hard. Yeah. Yeah. All right. I think Phoebe did a the wonderful cup of Phoebe did a whole video on Charizard of every letter and I think one absolutely right pretty soon. And and you know what she said when she saw Mega Raich you X and Y she went I’ve got to do a Raichu of every letter of the alphabet now haven’t I? Yes you do. Oh my god. I forgot about that video. You’re absolutely right. She’s done those fake. Yeah. Gone. Number three. I want to lean into these wacky megas. Right. We just got introduced to paradox Pokemon. Could we see mega paradox Pokémon from these other cuz again these are different dimensions. So by by default these are things that would not exist in our world which would be a paradox. Pretty fun actually. Yes. Because of the mention of like um paradox Pokemon coming from alternate timelines. It would not be the craziest thing in the world to me if we got and this would go so hard mega roaring moon mega Iron Valiant. I mega screen from you know all of it or or yeah like we get like um were there other paradox in the DLC or was it just the gouging fires and the iron boulders I think I’m thinking about like the two different vcarona paradox is that is that like a y and an x form you know or may maybe it’s PNF it’s past and future maybe it’s you know ancient and future or whatever but I could totally see something like that I hadn’t thought about that but if these mega stones are coming from other dimensions. It would be a lovely way to connect the last two, like this entire generation together because remember ZA is the end of generation 9. It’s still related. So, I love that idea. My next Okay, my next one. Ultra Beasts, Mega Ultra Beast. I mean, I don’t really know how this I’m I’m adding this here because it makes like I think immediately that that one screenshot we have uh of Hoopa’s portal and it looks very similar to the Ultraorm holes that are in Ultra Space. So, the moment you said about the Paradox Pokémon, I instantly thought that this was going to be the next thing. And I don’t I think weirdly I think it’s less likely because the generation is about paradox Pokémon. I think it’s more likely we get those. That said, I don’t think we would get Mega Evolution for any old Ultra Beast. So, I I think the most likely candidates would either be Nihiligo cuz it’s kind of the poster child and Sun and Moon or Naganadal. I don’t think we’d get any others. I could see it for Naganadal. I I don’t think I could really see it for any of the others. I think they would be, you know, if you do it for one, you almost have to do it for all kind of thing. And I just think that’s like which is why I sort of specifically said Iron Valiant and Roaring Moon cuz they kind of hold a special place in the in the hierarchy of of those, you know. No, totally. This is not on my list, but you just made me think about it. Like, could they introduce a new Pokemon that gets a Mega Evolution? That new Pokemon doesn’t exist in our universe. Probably not. This is I’m just thinking. They could. Of course, of course they could. That’s a great mythical. Of course they could. You’re right. It could be a new mythic. You’re right. Okay. That’s okay. That’s pretty good. Yeah, that’s pretty good. Yeah, I totally think they can do that on on the idea of like other uh Pokemon archetypes getting mega forms, regional forms. I think about Galarian Slowb Bro. There’s a lot of Pokemon like regional forms where their base counterpart has a mega evolution. I could definitely see something like Galarian Slowb Bro get a Mega where now instead of being swallowed by its like the Shelder, it just has this massive cannon on its arm. Right. Well, the thing about Mega Slowb Bro that’s really interesting is it’s not the Slowb Bro that Mega Evolved. It’s the Shelder. So, here’s how you do Mega Galarian Slowb Bro. You actually mega evolve the Slowb Bro and it’s got like a bunch of like finger two finger pistol. It’s got like but it’s like the whole hand. So, it’s like Yeah, that’s good. I could totally see something like that. Um, regional forms is really interesting. Um, but I’m here for it. I could totally see it. Like I think a mega Alolan Ninetails would just be like something else. So yeah, man. No, I’m totally totally here for that. I I could see it. These are ideas no one else is talking about. So I’m just trying to bring them to the table. Um love it. I’m here for it. I can see it. All right. Next one. Kind of a shoein. I think mythical Pokemon of the Callos region. Deci. Yeah. Hoopa. Volcanion. I think there’s some other Pokemon that kind of relate to this like Miraa maybe. Uh we have the eternal flower. Absolutely. So, Volcanian actually has a Pokédex entry talking about its supernatural organ, right? Yes. And um uh Rayquaza also has a like the organ is a big part of its uh the Pokédex entries to do and descriptions to do with mega evolution. It has a it swallowed a meteorite that sort of got ingested in its macado organ or something which allows it to mega evolve at will. I don’t think we’ve explored that element of Volcanon enough. Um gosh, it sounds a little bit innuendoy, but I do think we need to know what’s going on with that supernatural organ. Yeah. And I do think that we could see a Volcanon mega evolve. Yeah, it would be it would be tough. I mean, it’s such a good type. Water, fire. I I need to see more of this. It would be great. It would be insane. Um I think there’s also, you know, let’s let’s spotlight the Callus region. There are so many Pokemon from the Kos region. I I guess I’m thinking about the DLC being like, okay, like if they’re not giving us all of every Pokemon a mega, they got to do that. Like there’s there’s so many good Pokemon that are I don’t know. I don’t think I this is I I think the mistake we’re making is that this this is not the last time in Pokemon history we’re going to get new mega evolution. 10 years from now there will be new mega evolutions. So they’re not going to do them all at once. Like we’re going to we’re going to save a bunch. So, while a mega Trevenant, a mega goodra, mega Noivern would be super cool, I just don’t think there’s any hurry to do it. Like I think they’ll get round to them eventually. Like they almost definitely will. I like that. Um I actually would rather they explored not like again the newer like I want to start seeing some Gallar Pokemon, you know? I want to start seeing some uh Alola Pokemon. Uh, I want to see Mega Beware and I want to see um God like who’s good in in like Mega Mega Kamo, you know, like Wow, that’s cool. That’s cool. Um, so I’m happy to leave Kos like Okay. Okay. It’s good enough, you know. Maybe honestly, maybe the move is to go back to the Cinno region and give them some love. Yeah, finally, right? Exactly. Um, yeah. Some cool some like notable ones like Talonflame would be so cool. I feel like everyone picks up a talent. Aegis of slash is so cool. I want it. I want it so bad. Um, let’s see. Then there’s also other legendary Pokemon that are beyond Callos that I think are pretty related to the Callus region and you right in the context of this mega dimension. Maybe these are Pokemon that maybe are actually like they’re different. They’ve been changed because they are in the Kos region in some way. Uh, Zero Aora is I don’t really know if it necessarily has a connection to I was thinking about Zerora just in that it’s like and Mar shadow as well just in that they are like they’re like the two most modern mythical Pokémon that have like no law like just like nothing of interest even kind of has like a little bit of something but like again that one’s like a really bad example as well like when you compare like it to something like Petron that has the whole mochi mayhem or Melatan that kind of has everything going on in or McGa that does kind of have like a really like it’s not only got a movie but it’s there’s just like a lot about it. Marsh Shadow, Zeraora and Zarude basically like nothing, you know, and so like in terms of like and I think especially Zerora and Mar Shadow. So I I really think those Pokémon all need megas. I would be so on board for that honestly. That’s crazy. I’m looking at the list of mythicals and you’re right because everything really before generation 5 is pretty much featured in BDSP or uh or or Legends RCS. We also have or has like an in-game event, you know, something of interest. Even if it’s not like currently available, you can still, you know, you can still access it. Gen that wasn’t even on my list, but I’m looking at a gen right now and I’m like it’s got all those different drives. Pop a Mega Stone on the back of there. Mega Drive. That’d be kind of cool. That’d be kind of cool. Um that would be cool. Also, the Kanto birds are literally in Kos. I’m like, are we going to see those? They they they roam Kos in X and Y. That’s not a mythical, but like, bro, what a reveal that would be. Mega Zapdos, Mega Articuno, dude. Do you not do you not think though it would be a little bit like on the nose to like cuz I remember obviously the first DLC trailer we ever got was the one and it opened with like here’s Galarian mod just askuno and the idea of like uh to steal the meme the idea that they’re going to um do the next DLC trailer and they’re going to do that we would just be there like we’ve played these games before like we’ve done this like why are we doing this again you know what I mean totally true I’ve played these is. Yeah. So, uh I don’t know. I’m not sure on that. Okay. Sure. Sure. Uh we did touch on Mewtwo earlier and I’ll be honest, I don’t know any story story spoilers for Legends ZA. So, I’m looking at Xernius and Eva and I’m like I you know, we have seen nothing of them in any of the any of the promotion for this game. I’m I’m wondering if they’re even going to be in the game. I’m wondering with the Mega Raichu XY. But even if they are in the main game, I wonder if they’ll get mega evolutions in the DLC. Do you know what I mean? Oh my god, you’re right. They fuel mega evolution. What happens when they Mega Evolve? Yeah. Just like I was going to say like it could No, it’ll definitely be Mega Zern X. I think I think the Mega Evolution Oh, yeah. Mega Xernius X implying there’s a Megaius one. Um, but I think what would be really cool about it is is you know how like there’s obviously when we’ve got Gigantamax there’s also like Gigantamax Calax which is just different like it’s got blue aura. It’s just like a different thing. Um but it’s still in the same thing. I think that’s kind of what we get here. Like I think the mega evolution would just kind of be different like in some way it still be mega evolution but for Zal specifically I suspect they would be just kind of something a little bit different a little bit. I don’t know. I mean, even Zygarde, again, I don’t really know anything about Zygarde in ZA. I’m sure there’s leaks, but like I’m I’ve seen sick art of like a like a mega Zygarde X and a Mega Zygarde Y where it’s like absorbed those Pokemon’s powers. And like, sure, if that’s going to exist, that’s probably going to be in the main game. But if we’re talking about wacky megas that has nothing to do with the plot of ZA, maybe that’s in the, you know, maybe that’s in the uh, you know, in the DLC. Um, let’s see. I also have another fun idea. Maybe I could have mentioned this in the starter section is right, the only two megas that we know are going to be in this DLC are Pikachu. Could we see finally some megas for maybe the Kanto Eeveeutions or maybe at least Sylvon? That’d be kind of fun. You could see I could to now that we now that Raichu got something. I’m like I could see that. I can see that if they man if they dropped Mega Jolon Flareon Vaporeon that would be sick. That would be cool. That would be so cool. If they dropped Mega Sylveon, that would be sick. But that would feel like a lot of favoritism towards the one just cuz it’s Callos. But the but the Kanto Ellusions feels right. What what Yeah. I think what they could do is they could drop Mega Jolon, Flareon, Vaporeon, and Sylveon. And they could just leave Espeon, Umbreon, Glacon, Leaf alone because what that is going to do is set the community on fire talking about it going, “When is it? Where is it?” And they could tease us for 10 years. And I’ll be making videos for a decade before they do the next mega game. Dude, that would be so sick. All right, we’ll do it. We’ll do it. Beyond Umbre, you know, I think they they would win by depriving of us of a thing. You know what I mean? like for for them it would be a huge win. Um so I I actually think and also because I think in the Eevee Lucian like Pantheon um Vaporeon, Flareon and Jolton kind of feel like the lame ones. I don’t know why but just like the others are really really cool. Um you know and everyone’s got their favorites. I do think giving them in particular mega evolution it doesn’t feel exclusionary exclusionary. It’s like of course they would get it and they would I mean also I’m like not even that I care about this but they would get a competitive like a a boost right and and become more relevant competitive which is cool totally. Um something that I didn’t even say and I’ll say this before my last point is uh I do I would love to see the Palan starters if there is going to be another starter trio. Okay. Again it’s a generation 9 game. I I hon like we all forget but there’s so much there’s like Pala and and Kos are so close geographically. We’ve spent 3 years speculating about it and to I would be disappointed if there wasn’t some love towards Pala, right? If there is the Pokemon I actually think would get it would be Golden Go. It’s number a thousand. It’s It’s kind of got the Pokemon Go tie in. Like it’s kind of a meme Pokemon. You’re right. I weirdly just think it’s quite well positioned to get a Mega Evolution. Um I love that. I don’t know necess I don’t know why I feel that, but like that’s the one that springs to mind. I see it. And I think what they could do is like most I think every Mega Evolution usually is a call like it takes design elements from previous stages and you have that like chest form gimmigul. Can’t you imagine like a golden go me a mega golden go that like takes on some of that form some of that uh that you know the chest form or whatever. Um, you know, I actually commissioned some art for a it was like a it was like a it was like a one-off. It was like a blood moon uh style form for for Golden uh for Golden Go. And I commissioned her and I never used it in a video where it’s basically this like king and it’s sitting on what? It’s sitting on a a Gimme Gold chest essentially. I love that. Uh that you you’ve just reminded me. I’ll show that here. I want I want Mega Huian Pokémon. No, I didn’t even mention that. I didn’t even think about that. But like now you’ve said the blood moon and I’m like, “Oh my gosh, why don’t we have Mega Overquill would be the dumbest thing. Mega Cleo would be sick.” Like Mega Baskion. Oh man, you’re right. Honestly, that is sick. You know, that is honestly so sick. Oh, bro. No, I want that. cuz they’re they are final evolutions but as that’s true any of those like crossgen evolutions not the forms but the you know evol you know that’s that’s really cool um yeah gim honestly giml’s a pretty good pick but but even caliber how about this the ruinous quartet get megas this is so random I’m just thinking about Pokemon that are top of mind right now uh my my last item here I threw this on right at the end cuz I think we’re seeing it a little bit in Raichu is maybe these new megas being as wacky as they potentially could be from, you know, these are megas from other dimensions. We could see beta Pokemon designs being reworked or br the the elements of those designs brought into these new mega evolution designs. And I’m thinking like mega Pokemon, the design will call back to previous stages of the evolution, but what if it’s pulling back on previous stages of the evolution that don’t exist in our timeline, right? He’s being So, can I um I’m going to I’m going to have a hot take, which is that I think that’s a mild take. I don’t think that’s as crazy as you think. I’m going to I’m right there with you because they do that all the time. They’re always releasing Yes, they’re always releasing Pokémon that refer to like old beta. So many designs that show off and it’s like, oh, like that was a thing or like that was jungle. So, it actually wouldn’t surprise me. What I love though, what you’re pitching here is that they’re literally from another Pokemon timeline where the design got used. I’ve not thought about that, but now I’m thinking about it, I’m like, “Oh, so Mega Raichu X and Y are literally Goro as they would appear in another timeline in which they got which is such a fun way of looking at it, man. I’m so here for that. I love that. I want to see more of that.” Maybe it suggests that Charizard and Mewtwo Mega X are actually calling back to a design that we have no idea about.
