NBA 2K25 Gameplay: Philadelphia 76ers vs Los Angeles Lakers – (Xbox Series X) [4K60FPS]
It’s my hope. Oh, say does that star spangle Ber way. For the land of the free and the home of the brave performing our national anthem, that was Skyler Cole. And now we’ll be back in just a moment. Welcome to 2K Sports everyone. We have some exciting NBA action coming up here with the greats Richard Jefferson and Grant Hill. I’m Brian Anderson and Ally Leforce our reporter. Now a look at Philadelphia’s starting lineup. We’ve got Kelly Ubé, Andre Drummond is out there with Tyrese Maxi and it’s Yabaselli in at the four. And for Los Angeles, LeBron and Vanderbilt, your small and power forwards. Luca Donuch is out there with Austin Reeds. And it’s Hayes in at the pivot spot, banning the middle. We should see some great ball movement with these two teams, Grant. Fantastic group of passers on each side. They’re just so unselfish. They play for one another. You can see how it keeps the whole team involved. And I’ll tell you what, I just love watching teams that can pass like this. Now, here’s Maxi. Drummond. The screen on Donic. Maxi passes to Drummond. Over Hayes. Drummond with the bucket. As pretty much any coach, that’s how he’d like to start the game. Outside Reeves pass to Vanderbilt. Donic outside. Pure from three-point range. I like when Don goes right up with it, giving the defense no time to react. Back passes to Grimes outside. UB pulls it from 20. It’s rebounded by Los Angeles. They come into this one having outplayed the Grizzlies last time. And that one, the other team could not keep up with them offensively. They were prolific and on top of probably having the better talent, they never let up. Great effort, great win. All right, let’s check in with Alli Le Force. I did briefly speak with JJ Reic talking about Tyrese Maxi. He voiced how crucial it is to make sure that his defense doesn’t allow him any breathing room. He told me, quote, “Maxi can get hot in a hurry, so we can’t afford to give him open looks. And with his speed, we definitely want to limit his opportunities in the open court. We’ll see if the defense can slow his pace, guys. Okay, good stuff. Thank you, Ally. And there’s Donic. That’s good on the assist by Vanderbilt. Donic has got five. And I love Don’s shot selection. So smart at knowing when to shoot it. Here’s Maxi. And down it goes. Jam that one home. And he gives up some size inside, but makes a great adjustment on the finish. Yeah, you can give up some size, but that shows you how fearless he is. Willing to attack the basket no matter who is in front of him. Now, here’s Reeves. Nine points for him in his last game. Here’s Donic. And there’s another one for the Lakers. Yeah, from a tough spot on the floor. Luca shooting ability on display right there. And his defenses have adjusted to Austin Reeves scoring. Richard, he’s countered with the pass. Austin Reeves doesn’t get enough credit for how good his handle is, how much it’s improved. It’s allowed for him to score, get into different places, and make these passes. No good on the triple. Given his range, you’d expect him to capitalize on that opening. Maxi Surveys and what a breakout fourth year for Tyrese Maxi to his first Allstar game in 2024. When the Sixers traded away James Harden, it really opened up things for Maxi. Gave him the ball more more responsibility. And you know what? He showed up. He misses the free throw. Grant, how about that inseason tournament win for the Lakers in 2024? Yeah, honestly, it just makes sense that the first of those trophies would land with a historic franchise like the Lakers. He hits the second from the line. We know how great Joel Embiid is, but he simply hasn’t been as effective in the postseason. Part of that is because of all the defensive attention he gets. We know things tighten up in the postseason and things become much more challenging. That’s why he needs a better supporting cast. The 76ers have gone three of five here in the opening quarter. Here’s an eight-footer and he comes up with the bucket. Maxi’s got five points. Maxi just completely disregarding the defense because he can. Outside Reeves. And here in the first quarter, a little over three and a half minutes played. James against Ubé. Six to shoot. Releases from 15. That’s good on the jumper. Now understand this. When LeBron James entered into the league in 2003, that’s when lots of players were actually taking mid-range jumpers. Here’s Yabaselli. He’s scoreless and Drummond with the jam. And that’s how you lead a team, literally. And Donic has got the ball here for the Los Angeles Lakers. Trailing by two. Pass to Vanderbilt. Back to Donic over Maxi. Rebound by Philadelphia. Drummond’s got four rebounds in the game. To the inside, Gabelli looked at Yeah, their defense is starting to wear down. That’s three straight buckets at the rim. James outside shoots over Ubé and there’s James on the assist by Duch. James has got his second basket of the game. A real threat from the in between area. LeBron wastes no time firing when he gets to that spot. And so it’s Nick Nurse calling timeout here. He’ll take the opportunity to regroup. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Penny Smith’s checked in for Vanderbilt. And Philadelphia also making a switch. Edwards has checked in. The Sixers leading now Maxi. He’s got five. Drummond with the screen down low. And Drummond with the jam. When you defend Maxi in that action, you want to get the ball out of his hands, but Tyrese makes them pay outside. Reeves back to Donic. Pass to James. Shoots over Ubé. Drummond grabs the miss. Drummond’s got his fifth rebound in this one. Here’s Maxi into the lane. It’s rebounded by Los Angeles. Here’s Reeves. Still no points. Pass to Donic. Clock at six. Now here’s Reeves. Here’s Finny Smith. The three-pointer off the mark. Just enough of a shot contest to bother him. The Sixers lead by four. Now Maxi Drummond with the ball. He’s defended by Hayes. There’s the block and it’s out of bounds. The Sixers able to retain possession here. And you got to be in awe of incredible defensive efforts like this. What a play. I mean that’ll have the offense thinking twice about taking shots in his presence. Next checked in for Los Angeles. Number four, Dalton Connect. Five on the clock and there’s the rejection and they get it back. Lakers trail by four. Here’s James. The basket drops and he gets fouled on the shot. One free throw coming his way. Concentration off the charts. A chance for LeBron James to add one more. All right, a look at how the points have been generated so far. A scoring breakdown for Philadelphia. I’ve really been impressed with how aggressive they’ve been inside. Looking to capitalize from the paint whenever they can. And and another thing, they found the open man really playing unselfish basketball, moving the ball around there on the perimeter. That free throw good from James. And with the new season just underway, Richard, you can feel the excitement around the league. It’s one of my favorite times of the year, BA. And after all the hard work these guys put in during the offse, now we get to see if it’s paid off. UB on the wing. outside. Edwards lets the three fly on target from range. And that’s what they want to do. Get him open looks early. The Lakers trail. Donic deciding where to go with it. Has to connect. Benny Smith passes to Donic and they waste no time getting those three points back. Donic has got 10 points in the game. And credit his teammates for feeding him all quarter and timeout is called by Nick Nurse. He wants to make sure everybody’s on the same page. And Richard, after going undrafted back in 2016, what a career for Dorian Finny Smith approaching a decade in this league. He’s been a starter for most of that time, but he continues to be the definition of a 3 and D blue guy. You know what to do. Show us your show. Wo! Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. N. The 2K leaderboard highlighting last season’s assist leaders. Third is Luca Donic. Not a lot of guys had better vision on the floor than him. He was able to see passing lanes and ready shooters no one else could. On defense, the Lakers, they trail by one. Pass to Dton. Here’s the teardrop and out of bounds. Los Angeles will have it. It’s time to take a glance again at that superb block. What a powerful rejection. He’s not wanting them to get an advantage in this competitive game. And so it’s Donic with it. He brings it up for the Lakers. And guys, this is the first they’re seeing of the 76ers this year. The three James and Grimes pulls it down. So far, rebounding has been a focal point for them. Pass to Edwards. Here’s Grimes. Here’s Dton. Six on the shot clock. There’s a screen for three. Prime shot is home. Los Angeles has gone two of five from deep. And here’s connect outside. That shot no good. The 76ers have gotten eight of 16 attempts to fall. Pass to D. And he was camped in the lane there. He gets a 3second call. And some changes here for the Lakers. Reeves comes in for Hayes and Vincent is subbed in for Donic. The Lakers have got seven of 15 to find the net. And so JJ Reick calls for the timeout. We might see him looking to make some tweaks to the strategy here. You know, Grant, after losing in the first round last season, it felt like changes were inevitable for the Lakers. Yeah, making the playoffs isn’t enough for that franchise. They are all about championship success, and anything short of that is a failure. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Daniel shows some of them off and the Laker Girl dance team. 143 left in the first quarter here. Vincent passes to Reeves. Back to Vincent outside. Reeves. Shot clock at six. Lets it go from 11. The rebound by Yavelli. Philadelphia has gone one of two from three-point land so far. A minute 15 left to play in the first quarter. Here’s Council Philadelphia with another miss. The Lakers trail has to connect outside. Reeves and counted from 12 ft. Trading the lead back and forth. Neither side is willing to back down. I’ve been on the edge of my seat courtside man. This has been a barn burner. Here’s D still without a bucket to snap the Cold Streak and out of bounds. Los Angeles will have it. Those are the turnovers that have coaches pulling their air out. Why do you think I’m bald? The Lakers making a switch here. Lens checked in and Philadelphia also making a switch. Butler’s checked in for Grimes. Oh, Los Angeles has gone just two for six from the arc here in the first. Benson passes to Reeves. They set the pick. And he’s going for the oop here. Throw it down on the lob. Nice pass by Reeves reading the floor. That’s one of his strengths. 76ers trail by three. 3 seconds separating the shot and game clocks. And here’s Butler. Here’s Yoselli right wing. There’s the three and he can’t get that one. Oh, what a performance by Luca Donic. He has been the story for Los Angeles. He put together 10 points in the quarter. Back after this. And close game underway so far. We’ll see if either of these teams can jump out ahead in the second quarter. And a closer look here at the scoring breakdown for the Lakers. So far, they haven’t had to force anything. They’re swinging the ball around and turning good passing into points. Another thing that’s gone well for them is the mid-range jumper. It’s been falling with ease so far. Here’s Vincent. No points so far. Dorian Finny Smith is out there with connect. Then it’s Austin Reeves. Then it’s Gabe Vincent. And it’s Lynn in at the five down low. That’s the group for the Lakers to kick off the second quarter. Shot is good by Reeves. Nice concentration from Reeves. Never loses focus despite the contact. And there’s a pick. Here’s Butler. And it’s Butler with the jam. Oh my. That’s why we have those breakaway ribs, dude. He risked pulling the whole thing down to the floor right there. I see him. I see him. Now here’s Vincent. There’s the screen by Lynn. And here’s Reeves outside. That’s his third basket and five shot. Solid work. Their offense gets that much better when the D has to pay attention to Reeves outside the arc. Right side Butler. Here’s Dton. He’s covered by Reeves on the take. A nice shot by Dton. Dton’s got his first two points. used the pick to perfection and got all the way to the rim. On the wing, Reeves. He’s got seven. Rebound by Philadelphia. They couldn’t put the pieces together last time out, losing to the Clippers. Just a tough road loss. You’re going against players who are comfortable shooting in their own building. You have to find a way to disrupt their focus. Well, they weren’t fighting through screens. Their closeouts and rotations were late. you name it and let’s just say they didn’t do it on defense. And Reeves has got the ball here for the Lakers. They’ll be hosting Toronto for their next one. It’ll be the second of three straight games on their home floor. Pass to Vincent out to the right wing. Reeves with the ball. There’s the screen by Lynn. Shot is good by Reeves. Reeves has got nine, but he’s been locked all the way in from the floor and he’s the number one reason why they’re winning right now. Let’s go now to the sideline and catch up with Alli Leforce. Brian, the Sixers two stars make a great pairing. Maxi said of Embiid, “Since I was a rookie, he’s had the ultimate faith and believed in me.” And Embiid said of Maxi, “He’s something else. Always smiling with the same energy. Good games, bad games, always the same. People like that set the tone for everybody else.” Brian, that’s a good call. Alley. Thank you. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Vanderbilts checked in for Lynn. All right, some time here to take a look at the 2K leaderboard. Here were the league’s top shooting squads from last year. The Lakers second. They were so consistent with their shooting. Maybe not lights out, but they played smart and didn’t let good looks go to waste. Here’s Edwards outside. Butler, uses the glass on the layup. Butler’s got six points in the quarter. He came up dry offensively in the first, but looks like he’s ready to turn it around. And we’re just over two and a half minutes into the second. Outside Vanderbilt on the wing. Reeves. Back to Vanderbilt and stolen by Edwards. Outside Butler. Pass to council. and he hits it to tie the game. Man, that’s now 10 straight points in the paint. I’m not sure what’s happened to their defense despite Joel Embiid missing more than half of their games. Grant the Sixers still won 47 games last season. Yeah, BA. And lots of credit goes to Tyrese Maxi averaging over 26 points a game. Philadelphia also had some good depth and that really helped. and he’s carried them this quarter. A dominant offensive stretch. Buckler up top. He’s covered by Vincent. They set a pick to the wing on the left pass to Butler and it’s going to be a 3second call. And now a look at the upcoming schedule for Los Angeles. On Sunday, they’ll host the Toronto Raptors. And then on Wednesday, they’ll defend home court against the Memphis Grizzlies. And for that game against the Spurs, that’s one that I’m particularly curious about. Should be a fun matchup with the rosters those teams have. The Lakers making a switch here. James has checked in. Andre Drummond has checked in for the Sixers. Tyrese Maxi comes in for Butler. Kenny Smith a screen out to James. Down to five on the shot clock. Oh, LeBron sending it home. Yeah, just too much big boy basketball by LeBron James. Just bodying defenders inside. Edwards finds Maxi. Here’s Council. Check by James. Double team on Drummond and wrestling for it there. But no one has possession. We’ll have a jump ball. Jump ball. Here’s Reeves. Oh, Drummond with a block. They get it back. Benson outside. Drummond against James. Fires the three. Kept alive. They shoot again. And Fenny Smith with the layin. Penny Smith’s got his second bucket on the night. That’ll drive your coach crazy. Failing to box out. Yeah, you think you got to stop and it’s wasted because of sloppy work in the glass. You literally practice that every day. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot, too. Well, despite the effort to create super teams, the league has a lot of parody right now, Grant. It really does, and I like it. It’s not quite like the 80s Celtics and Lakers or the ’90s Bulls, partly because of the salary cap. It’s so hard to pay more than two, maybe three stars at a time. and he drops a first. Some changes for Los Angeles. Kex checked in for Finny Smith and Donic has subbed in for Reeves. UB he’s checked in for the Sixers. Grimes comes in for councel. Both shots good from the strike. Well, this was a big summer for the 76ers. Grant trying to capitalize on their championship window with superstar Joel Embiid. You’re spot on, BA. Acquiring the talent that might allow him to save himself for the home stretch. Of course, last year’s playoffs to battle heroically, but ideally they’d like him much closer to 100% come the postseason. For such a big dude, all he needs is just a little bit of daylight and LeBron is going to be hanging on that rip. I thought he had that all sown up, but somehow the defense just threw him off. And he lobbs it up. Oh, they pick off the pass. Here’s Dton. Pass to Maxi takes a three. Philadelphia with another miss. And you never want to give a shooter like him a clean look. James passes to Vanderbilt and Vanderbilt slams it in. A bit undersized. His hops make him a legit small ball four. 76ers trail by nine. Here’s Dton. Drummond with the ball. Six points for him. Here’s Grimes. Gets the three to fall. Grimes has got five. Got to fight harder to get over those screens. Yeah, as soon as these guys build contact, they are just disappearing like they’re not even there. You got to show some fire and keep defending. Here’s Vanderbilt. And Vanderbilt slams it in. He put a little flare on that one. Yes, he did. Man, he’s a strong finisher, huh? Pass to Drummond. And there’s a whistle that’s going to go on Jared Vanderbilt. It’s his first foul of the game. Finny Smith’s checked in for the Lakers. Good one comes in for Vincent Edwards. He’s checked in for Philadelphia. Here’s Grimes. He had a 12-point outing in their last game against the Clippers. And he didn’t just create offense for himself. Now, he did a tremendous job of setting up his teammates as well. Just three to shoot for three. Maxi Philadelphia with another miss. Yeah, just hasn’t been able to find his rhythm offensively and that’s having a ripple effect. Here’s Donic off target. That would have pushed the lead to double digits. And so it’s Edwards who brings up the ball for the 76ers. Eight-point game outside. UB pass to Drummond. Here’s Grimes. Launches a three. That one’s in there. Drummond with the assist. Grimes has got six here in the quarter. They’re making a few more threes this quarter trying to cut into that deficit. Kenny Smith is screened from deep. Here’s Donic. Edwards pulls it in. And after connecting twice from deep in the first quarter, he hasn’t been able to drain another here in the second. Outside Ubé. 146 left in the first half. Drummond can’t connect from 14. Couldn’t quite line that one up. Just got to shake it off and move on to the next one. Good one. Passes to Vanderbilt. Now Donic. Let’s go with a three. Luca lethal. This brings him to three total makes from the ark with just one in this half so far. 76ers trail by eight. Backseie passes to Grimes off with the layup. Los Angeles has gotten five of 11 threes to drop so far in this game. To the middle here’s Donic. Oh, Don shakes off the pressure and they’re really working the paint now. The 76ers have gotten seven of 12 shots to go here in the second. Maxi against Donic from 8 ft. Rebounded by LeBron. See what a rough quarter for him. Nothing seemingly going his way. And it’s Donic missing. Philadelphia has gone two of four from the perimeter in the second so far. Donic against Maxi. Pass to Grimes. Second shot opportunity. Parked it down low that time. Got hit with the 3second call. That’s a costly error. Let’s see how they bounce back. Well, they don’t have time to dwell on that. They just need to learn from their mistakes and move forward. Next play. Hayes is checked in for the Lakers. Reeves comes in for Goodwin. From the top of the key, Donic shot is good. Donic has got seven now in this quarter. And their offense tonight is Luca, Luca, and more Luca. When he’s on, it’s an opponent’s worst nightmare. Drummond, the screen on Donic for three. Maxi. What a play. He drains it at the buzzer. That is a huge three for them mentally. You don’t want to go into halftime staring at a double-digit deficit. And so it’s Los Angeles. They have a nice 9-point cushion at the end of the quarter. Great shot selection right now. Keeping the game simple and getting high percentage looks. We’ll be back in a moment. Thanks for joining us for this fun-filled burst of basketball bliss. We kick off tonight’s show with the power rankings across the league. Yeah, taking a look at the Lakers, they’re still a team that could be dangerous, but they’re having trouble playing at their best every night. That’s a lack of focus on their part. We’ve seen some surprising losses from them here early in the season. And turning now to the game we’ve been watching, Luca Donuch has been lighting it up. You can tell Luca has a great mind for the game. Sees all the holes in the defense. knows just how to exploit him, too. You know what? It’s like he’s gone shopping at the offensive end. He’s browsing, picking out stuff, you know, putting the touching the fruit, see if he likes it, puts it back, then he gets the shot he wants. Thanks for tuning in. Now, it’s time to head back over to Brian Anderson for the start of the third quarter. And if you’re just joining it in, one half is in the books. One half to go. Boy, really an incredible game here from Luca Donic. He’s hit shot after shot from deep. He’s so locked in right now. If I’m his teammate, I keep feeding the hot hand, especially since he’s been on fire from deep. Also, Los Angeles leading by nine. Second half underway. Here’s who Nick Nurse has got on the floor. They’ve got Tyrese Maxi. Andre Drummond is out there with Kelly Ubé and a Gabaselli in at the power forward position. A guard that can truly do it all. Donic has tremendous power. Maxi against Donic. And here we have last season’s best free throw shooting teams. Second, Philadelphia. Now, we all know that getting to the free throw line is so vital in today’s game. I mean, you get the freebies, plus you put your opponents in foul trouble. Shoot two and he knocks down the first one. The thing you love about Maxi is that he always has a smile when he’s out there. He’s enjoying himself and he embraces the challenge that the game presents. and so he’s able to get one of two. The Lakers lead by 10. Now here’s Reeds off target at the rim. Time now to hear from our reporter Ally Leforce. Well, LeBron James last season set the record for most All-Star nods in NBA history. He said, quote, “I’m blessed to do what I love and just to try to give back to the game that’s given to me over two decades. Long ago, I exceeded anything I ever dreamed of being in the NBA. Everything else is just extra credit.” Brian, thanks, Ally. Now, here’s Maxi. He’s got nine. Pass to Grimes. The three is up. Nails it from three. Grimes has got 11 points. This team wants Maxi to have the ball in his hands. He is a great decision maker that gets better every year. Outside Vanderbilt Reeves the pass to Vanderbilt. Six on the shot clock and once again off the mark by Los Angeles. Since halftime they’ve missed three of their first four shots. still trying to get their legs under them. In 2024, Luca Donuch recorded six consecutive 30point triple double games. That’s right, BA. The first time anyone has done it in NBA history. So, if you didn’t already believe in Luca Magic, well, there’s some proof that the magic is real. In a tight game, they wanted to make sure of that possession. And so, it’s Donic with it. He brings it up for the Los Angeles Lakers. They held a 12-point lead earlier. And so JJ Reic calls for the timeout and we might see some changes. coach potentially looking to adjust your business. It’s your leg. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Your winners. So, it’s Los Angeles now leading by five. Nice finish from Luca. Oh, Luca is so skilled at using his body to create good looks inside. Donic against Maxi. And there’s the screen. Fires from deep. The Lakers with a rebound. Vanderbilt’s got four rebounds in the game. Outside Reeves. Outside Vanderbilt. Donic on the wing. Maxi covering. Donic against Maxi. Donic. Passes to Hayes. Stolen by Drummond. And they’re on the break. Gavaselli looked at. And this has been a nice start to the second half. They’re three out of four in a rhythm on the offense right now. Now Donic, he’s got 21 over Maxi. Oh, Luca like a bull in there with the allaround impact he makes. If he can stay healthy, Donic could win multiple MVPs. He’s got those special kind of gifts. Maxi against Donic and the 76ers tack on two more. Okay, so they’ve looked energized and focused starting this half coming out of the break making four out of their first five. Donic passes to Reeds and Luca Donic is going to pick up the foul. That’s his third foul of the game. I love great defense. Just quick to establish his feet and he takes the hit. 76ers trail by five. Pass to Drummond. Here’s Grimes. He’s covered by Reeves. Here’s Yavelli. Just five to shoot for three. Maxi rebound by the Lakers. Vanderbilt’s got five rebounds tonight. Here’s Reeves up again. Oh, he hangs in there and cashes in on the second chance points and the Lakers lead by seven. He really gets in perfect position for the follow. Just a terrific read and stolen by Reeds and he lobbs it up to the rim and finished off by Hayes. I just love that alley slam. Defense disorganized but defense pays. left side. Ubé from deep. Drills it from deep. UB’s got his first bucket of the game and he’s on the board for three. Unselfish play by Maxi. He’s learned to get his teammates involved. Outside Reeves back to Donic. Pass to James. The shot is good. Donic making the play. Donic has got three assists tonight. Man, this is just fun. These teams are trading threes back and forth. This is today’s NBA. Hey, we see this kind of exchange more often than not. And timeout is called by Nick Nurse. Coach wants to speak to his guys, maybe alter some of the game plan. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Denny Smith’s checked in for Los Angeles. Edwards, he’s checked in for the Sixers. Down comes in for Maxi. Hey, who’s Hayes against Drummond? And Drummond with the jam. And that’s a double double for him now. The strong finish to cut into that lead a little. And left no doubt with that one, Grant. Here’s Hayes. That one falls. Great setup by Donic. Donic has got four assists in the game. You can tell Donic trusts his teammates. He’ll get them looks and doesn’t insist on doing everything himself. Here’s Dton. Pass to Grimes. And it’s all from three-point range. The Lakers lead by nine. James deciding where to go with it. Now here’s Donic and Grimes pulls it down. You got to move past that one. I mean, they’d want him to take that again. Yeah, it’s a great look for him. One though. Try and manufacture again. Those are the shots you want him to take. Edwards finds Drummond. Back to Edwards. There’s the triple. Hits the trifecta. Edwards has got six. You got to appreciate the consistency. Night in and night out. He brings it. Donic passes to Hayes. Now here’s Donic. Tightly guarded. Here’s Penny Smith alone off target with the three. And this is exactly who you want taking that shot. He just missed it. Edwards against James. Here’s Grimes. 11 points in the game. Six to shoot. 43. It’s hauled in by Luca Donuch. And so it’s Donic with it. He brings it up for Los Angeles. Here’s Finny Smith. Here’s James. Look at LeBron with the strength to score through contact. They’re finding ways to get the ball into the paint. Five consecutive buckets to the left side wing. Grimes. The pass to Drummond. Here’s Grimes. He’s covered by Reeves from behind the ark. And Andre Drummond is going to pick up the foul. It’s his first foul of the game. And some changes here for the Lakers. Lynn comes in for Hayes and connects. Subbed in for James. The Lakers lead by eight. Outside Reeves pass to Finn Smith. Reeves with the screen on Edwards. Back to Reeves. Oh, a big finish with a one-handed jam. Don’t sleep on Reeves athleticism. He’s got some real balance. And here’s Edwards. Here’s Bonner yet to see a basket. Philadelphia with another miss. They’ve had a slight leg up on the boards and a big leg up on the scoreboard. Pass to Donic. Fadeaway and he gets it to go off the front iron and now it’s a 12-point Laker lead. And he couldn’t get an easier shot. The defense right now just looks defeated. Yeah, you’d love to see a little bit more fire on defense. Shoot any fire on defense. They can’t just be giving the game away. Grimes. No good from outside. Los Angeles has got six out of 15 threes so far in this game. Donic passes to Reeds. 114 left in the third quarter and no good. Some solid defense from Edwards. Pass to council. three-pointer. Donic pulls down the board. Donic has got four rebounds in the game. Inside, here’s Lynn and he throws it down. What a terrific lead pass. Woo! Defensively, you can’t afford to let him get to the rim that easily. Well, that might be why their deficit is what it is right now. Yeah, it’s going to take better rim protection than that if they’re going to climb out of this hole. Here’s Grimes. 11 points in the game. And the three-pointer goes. Grimes has got 14 points for the game. And now with two three-pointers in each half, he’s really doing his all to help his team out from deep. Outside. Reeves kicks it to Dodgers. Takes the three. Luca the revenge three. Keep riding that hot hand. He’s been pretty much unstoppable. 76ers trail by 14. Here’s Dton. We’ve got 13 seconds left to play in the third quarter of basketball. Late clock. The Sixers need to put one up here. And here at the end of the third, it’s a double-digit ball game. It’s Los Angeles leading by 14. After a quick break, we’re coming right back with the start of the fourth quarter. And it’s time to bring up the State Farm assist of the game. Yeah, just shredding the defense with that feed. zero chance to stop that. That’s an unguardable pass flat out. Give him credit for possessing that type of vision. And as we head into the fourth, we’ll see if there’s a comeback in the works or if it’s more of the same for the first three quarters. LeBron and Vanderbilt, your small and power forwards. Connect is out there with Gabe Benson and it’s Finny Smith in at the five spot. That’s who’s in the game for the Lakers. Now here’s Butler. Dow passes to Butler. Here’s Brassette. Here’s Council. Check by James. And here’s Butler outside. Rebound by the Lakers. James has got four rebounds in the game. I’ll tell you what, they’ve rebounded the ball tremendously well from downtown. and he gets it to go. He’s eight of 11 now. Honestly, I feel so fortunate to be able to sit here and watch this because there are not many vintage performances by LeBron James left to go in his career. Now, here’s Butler to the paint and stolen by Vanderbilt in transition. Here they come. Okay. Probably with the big boy moves. He just absorbs the foul. Still getting the shot. Doesn’t even feel it. And what do you guys think so far about the offensive approach for Los Angeles? Their offense has been a welloiled machine. They’re moving the ball around, playing for one another, and just piling up assist. Yeah, all game long they’ve been also playing well inside in the paint. Lots of points are coming their way thanks to them attacking the interior. First one falls for him. Well, Grant, even though it looks like LeBron could play forever, he stated that he doesn’t have much time left. Well, it’s unbelievable that he sustained this level of excellence for as long as he has. I would be surprised if we see this type of longevity ever again. That one’s no good. And how about LeBron? Even if he’s no longer the clear-cut best player in the league, he can still take over a game, RJ. Oh, make no mistake. He’s still the best when he needs to be. Absolutely. Has a switch that gets flicked when he needs it. He’s not on for 48 minutes, but he can definitely turn it on for a few. And here’s Butler outside. Knocks down the long J. He’s shooting well, doing his best to keep this offense in gear, but he hasn’t had a lot of support. To the inside, here’s Fenny Smith and he ts it home with authority. Such a wizard with the ball. James always finds the open man. 76ers trail by 17. Pass to council. Vanderbilt pulls it in. Vanderbilt’s got six rebounds here tonight. They really have a commanding lead, not just in points, but in rebounds as well. Outside Finny Smith, James left side just five on the clock. Here’s Vincent from outside. off the mark. Philadelphia has gone one of two from deep in this quarter. Driving in Dton passes to Butler. This one for three. It’s rebounded by Los Angeles. James has got rebound number five here tonight. And here’s connect outside. Rebound by Philadelphia. And at home for the next game, it’ll be Charlotte pulling in to face him. And that kicks off a string of three home games for them. Outside Butler. The three is up. Vanderbilt pulls it in. Vanderbilt’s got his seventh rebound here tonight. James with the ball now guarded by Butler. And he gets it to go. James has got 22 points. They just look so overwhelmed inside. That’s why they continue to get attacked. Butler surveying the floor. Vincent with the defensive effort. Los Angeles leading by 19. A bit under three and 1/2 minutes have passed here in the fourth. James passes to Vanderbilt. James a screen on Edwards. Oh, swiped away. Pass break Philadelphia. A nice shot by Daly. There was a time you could get yelled at for taking a three like that, but now it’s a great decision and it paid off. And we’ve got a timeout called by JJ Reic. He wants to make sure everyone is aligned given the situation right now. Get ready everyone. Let go. Let’s see what we got. Heat. Heat. So it’s both teams making substitutions here. Substitution on the board. The Lakers lead by 16. And here’s Donic. James inside. He’s covered by Ubé. The fadeaway. James can’t get it to go. Philadelphia has got two of five threes to go here in the fourth. Here’s Grimes. Checked by James. Offensive rebound. Here’s Edwards. Off target from the wing. And so it’s Donic with it. He brings it up for the Lakers. So far in the fourth, they’ve allowed just six points. Off the mark there with a three. 76ers trail by 16. Passes to Edwards. Pass to Maxi. Shot clock at five. The three ball. the offensive rebound and Drummonds with the jam. Grabs the board and goes right in for the putback. I love it, VA. Yeah, wanted to close the gap. Makes sense to get aggressive on the glass here. Now here’s Donic. Shoots over Maxi and it’s Donic missing. And for the 76ers, they’re shooting pretty well at 45%. Shot is good by Edwards. Got it in close. And unless it’s an open three, that’s the key to efficient offense. Backy against Donic. Pass to Hayes. The shot is good. Donic making the play. Donic has got six assists here tonight. Maxi passes to Drummond. Now here’s Ubé. And here’s Edwards. Fires for three. He drops it from range. They’ve been pretty lax with their perimeter defense, giving up a lot of three-pointers. Los Angeles leading by 11. Donic passes to Hayes. James with the ball from outside the ark. There, LeBron for three. A nice little duel here. LeBron getting the three points back for his team. Here’s the pick for three. Maxi rebound. The Lakers. Vanderbilt’s got nine rebounds in the game. Boy, he’s getting it done. Nice rebound. Trying to match the other team’s intensity right now. Now, here is James. outside. Reeves. James can’t get it to go. 76ers trail by 14. Outside Edwards. Poke loose. Out on his own on the break. Here’s Vanderbilt. And Vanderbilt slams it in. Now, I know he makes it look easy, but it takes incredible physical tools to pull that off. athleticism and explosion. And so it’s Nick Nurse calling timeout here. He wants to make sure they’re purposeful with the game plan. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. And some changes here for the Lakers. Finny Smith checked in for Vanderbilt and connects subbed in for LeBron. 76ers trail by 16. Go. Pass to Grimes. UB on the wing. Here’s Grimes outside. UB clock at six and it’s blocked. And so it looks like the Sixers will retain possession here. And now it’s time to take another view of that huge swat. Yeah, good offense comes from great defense. This lead is only getting stronger with plays like that. Jared Vanderville, LeBron James. for three. Maxi Vanderbilt pulls it in. Vanderbilt’s got doubledigit rebounds now in the game. Okay, so if I were to say this was a disaster of a period for him, it would be an understatement. But hey, sometimes you got to shoot your way out of the slump, even for him. Now here’s Reeds. Donic outside. Drummond grabs the miss. 76ers trail by 16 outside Maxi. Pass to Drummond. Here’s Grimes. Six to shoot over Reeves. The Sixers again can’t hit. The Lakers lead by 16. James outside back to Reeves down low. Here’s Hayes. Another shot. And count that. Two points and a chance for one more at the line. They have a relentless mentality. Even with the game in total control. No let up with these guys. They’re going for the throw now. And Los Angeles will go for a different look here. Finny Smith’s checked in for Vanderbilt. Connect comes in for James. Goodwin’s checked in for Reeves. And Vincent is subbed in for Luca Donuch. And it’s Butler with the ball for the Philadelphia 76ers. Trailing by 19. Pass to Bona. We’ve got 123 left to play in the fourth. Six on the shot clock. Back to Butler. Ooh. Lands soft on the front of the rim and drops in. And this one hasn’t been in doubt for a bit now. They came out on a mission and you can bag up this win for the Lakers. Boy, this was one physical game, guys. They obviously felt that was an advantage of theirs coming in. And they were able to be relentless inside as a result. And with this win, they’ve tallied up a total of six wins on the year. And with this one all but in the record books, they set the tone in the first of what will be only two meetings between these teams. And one player just stole the show tonight. Doing everything for his team. A monster night for Luca Donic. And he was getting buckets all night long. Giving the defense that work. Here’s Hafino. Chalk up two there. Here’s Vincent. And we’ve got 28 seconds left to play in the fourth quarter. Pass to Hayes. Here’s Goodwin. It’s hauled in by Dton. So, we see the Lakers taking the W here. A clean win and one where they clearly showed better energy. Yeah, so true. They put on a show here at all and I really think they had that extra swagger and confidence too. Well, now a minute to check in with Ally Leforce. She’s courtside. Hey, Ally. LeBron, you got that perimeter shot falling as the game wore on. How’d you dial it in? Uh, I mean, I work on my shot every day. I work on my game every day. So, it doesn’t matter if I miss uh all of them in the first, second, third, I still believe that I’m going to make the next one. All that hard work really paid off late. Congratulations. All right, Ally. Good stuff there. Thanks for that. And that about wraps it up for Ally Leforce, Grant Hill, and Richard Jefferson. This is Brian Anderson thanking you for watching the NBA presented by 2K Sports. And let’s leave you with our player of the game, Luca Donuch.
