NEW Digimon Story Time Stranger UPDATES – DLC Pack 1, NEW Digivolution Routes + Special Questline!

How is it going everyone? Got some big PlayStation news to go over in this video. Digimon Story Time Stranger has gotten its first DLC detailed. We don’t have a ton of information on it, but generally speaking, it’s not like they’re going to do a huge promotional roll out before DLC comes out, but it is going to be the first episode. So, we’ll talk all about that. Some updates to Hi-Fi Rush as Crafton is officially taking over the publishing of the game. Obviously, you guys know what happened with Microsoft Tango Gameworks and everything like that in regards to Hi-Fi Rush and Evil Within. Thankfully, Craftton did come in and secured the Hi-Fi Rush IP and they are taking over the publishing of it and we’ll talk about that at the end of this video. But first of all, Digimon Story Time Stranger DLC additional Digimon and Episode 1 alternate dimension launches this winter. We’ve got new Digivolution route and a special quest line as well. Additional Digimon and Episode pack 1 will launch this winter. Publisher Bandai Namco has officially announced additional Digimon and Episode pack 1 provides new Digivolution routes for mega Digimon including Blitz Greymon, Cresuron, Omnimon’s wart, and Omnimon Alter B and features a special quest line that weaves together special encounters across time and space. They’ve got some marquee Digimon for sure in this episode pack one. I feel like they’ve garnered so much goodwill out of the release with Digimon Storytime Stranger that the only thing that I really hope is that this DLC isn’t cash grab DLC. I’ve just seen that happen so much with Bandai Namco and especially Bandai Namco anime games and whenever you have a DLC schedule just lined out even before the game comes out. So, think of it this way. They already knew this DLC was going to come out. They already had the plans in place on what this DLC was going to be. So they have their expectations on how the game is going to do. Now seemingly Digimon Story Time Stranger has exceeded expectations, but now you don’t really have that opportunity if you already allocated a certain budget for the DLC to be like, “Hey, let’s go bigger. Let’s continue building this Goodwill. There’s something here with Digimon Story as an IP.” You really no longer have the opportunity to do that. And we’ve seen a lot of Ubisoft games have this DLC plan scheduled out well before a game comes out that you really can’t course correct. I hope that’s not the case with this game because I think if you just continue to build and build, drop quality DLC and uh you know just drop quality content for the game, people are going to be super into it. Um hopefully the game does get discounted during the holidays as well. I think that would be a perfect opportunity. Uh especially with Pokémon, you know, not being received as well. I get it. The game sold a billion copies. like it’ll do fine commercially, but as far as getting that laugh span that may have not played the most recent Pokemon and Digimon games, uh it does feel like there’s a little bit more excitement than people would have expected for Digimon Story Time Train. Nowhere am I saying that the game is going to do as well as Pokémon. It’s not. But to be a quality alternative, that’s really um the ultimate goal for the game. Just be a quality alternative and then hopefully everything else will take care of itself. I do think the Digimon DLC thing is going to be a really really interesting element of the game to observe just because I’ve seen so many anime Bandai Namco games come out with this thrown together DLC. And yo, I get how the game is played these days. We got to monetize these games. $70 games is not enough. We got to do the $100 Ultimate Edition, sell the season passes, etc., etc. Um, but I just think if you drop some mediocre DLC right now, given the quality level of the game from the onset, I just think that would be incredibly disappointing. And uh, rather than uh, you know, throw away some of the goodwill. And I’m not saying that having mediocre DLC would destroy people’s interest in Digimon games. Far from it. But I think right now, you want to ride a positive wave of momentum and hopefully we do get some highquality DLC that has a worthwhile level of content. And I’m not expecting each DLC pack to have 10 to 20 hours of gameplay. I mean 10 hours of gameplay, I don’t think it would be that crazy, but uh we’ll see how it all turns out. And Pokémon’s getting some sizable DLC as well. And when I say sizable, I just mean it’s like kind of expensive. You know, these DLC packs are getting more and more expensive. And I just feel like that’s one thing that, you know, we can talk about 70, $80 games, but what’s not talked about as much is the rising prices of these season passes and these ultimate editions because that’s absolutely happening. And it used to be season passes would be $20. Now they’ve quietly gone up to $25 to $30 and you’ll see season passes for $40 as well. That’s the aspect of price points that I think has really risen without a lot of outcry because that’s not as visible as let’s say oh you walk into a store and the price tag now says $79.99 versus a $70 price tag. uh the season pass price increases are kind of hidden a little bit more and really they try to get the revenue from the people that have the disposable income and the most into that genre and that franchise as well that you know they’re going to spend $40 on the season pass because they’re just so into that IP. But I digress. Fingers crossed that it turns out well. Uh but again, we’ve seen the song and dance from Bandai Namco before. All right, moving on from that. One of my favorite games of 2023. Can’t believe it’s been almost 3 years since it came out. Hi-fi Rush. And man, I remember Hi-Fi Rush coming out of left field. Nobody really saw it coming. Just this random game being dropped by Tango Gameworks. And at that point, Tango was the best known for Evil Within. So, them doing this music rhythm action game hybrid. It was so out of left field, but it was one of the standout games of 2023 and really a lot different than what Microsoft usually publishes. and an era of games getting announced 5 years before they come out. Uh, Hi-Fi Rush being this stealth drop, I just feel like it put it in a different position. Had such a great art style. The soundtrack was fantastic and, you know, it’s not like the game did amazing commercial numbers from what we could tell. It was on Game Pass and everything that, you know, Phil Spencer was saying, which Phil Spencer, I don’t know how much we can believe him these days, but um, it seemed like they were happy with the performance of Hi-Fi Rush. And ultimately being happy with the performance of a game means that that game studio is going to get shut down. Thankfully, Crafton did come in. At least some publisher did come in. I know the people aren’t super high on Crafton these days, but at least an entity did come in and they saved the Hi-Fi Rush IP. It has moved from Bethesda Softworks to Craftton, the parent company of developer Tango Gameworks and owner of the Hi-Fi Rush intellectual property as of August 2024. And now the game is being updated uh to showcase all of the different updates. All of your purchases and downloads, they will obviously still be usable, but it looks like now Hi-Fi Rush is really becoming that Crafton entity. And I don’t know, maybe soon we can see an announcement of Hi-Fi Rush 2. Remember that this isn’t the biggest game in the world. So if Tango was acquired in August of 2024, hopefully they’re a little bit a ways in to the development of a sequel and we can get an announcement on that. This isn’t an IP that’s going to be an overnight, you know, marquee success, but I feel like given how Microsoft did Tango Gameworks dirty and they did the Hi-Fi Rush IP dirty, I think this whole situation transpiring the way that it did is ultimately just going to make Hi-Fi Rush a bigger IP because there’s going to be a core group of people that play video games that are really going to rally behind it and want this game to succeed in the sense of, oh, we can stick it to the man. you know, Microsoft wanted to take down this really cool game IP, but now there’s a sequel and now we’re going to make sure to support it. I feel like, dude, with that kind of thought attached to the game now, I think that’ll ultimately make the second game even bigger than if Microsoft just had, you know, released the sequel. I think a sequel would have done well because guess what? Hi-fi Rush turned out to be a fantastic, fantastic game. But everything that happened as far as Tango getting shut down, Crafton coming in, and the IP being revived, I think that’ll ultimately make the second game uh even bigger uh than what it initially would have been. But ideally, you would have just wanted, you know, no jobs to be affected and things like this. But, you know, it is what it is. The patch for the first game is going to be dropping on December the 4th, and hopefully we’ll get an update on how the development of the sequel is going, if that has kicked off at all. But I think this is an IP with a very very high ceiling and hopefully it’ll be around for a long time. And I remember some of what Craftton said is, you know, there are going to be games that you can look at and they might not be obvious commercial juggernauts or do very well, but you kind of have to take a risk on them because you believe in them so much from a quality standpoint. And I feel like Hi-Fi Rush is exactly that. But we’ll see how all of that ultimately turns out. That’ll do it for me. Again, Digimon Story Time Stranger is scheduled to get its first piece of three DLC packs this winter with a brand new set of Digibolution routes and a special quest line. That’ll be the first of three DLC episodes and Hi-Fi Rush gets an update as Publishing is being transferred to Crafton with a patch on December the 4th. That’s going to do it for me.
