Rush Saved Mercenary Day, but can he save Borderlands 4 DLC?

Welcome back everyone. Dur here and so the Christmas DL or the bounty pack came out. This is similar to a head hunter pack. Um but I’m I’m kind of mixed. So one, it’s cool because this is free. Um free content is always great. Uh, that guy is going to be tough. Um, but I can’t help but compare this to the mercenary day head hunter in Borderlands 2 and it’s not there. And that starts to kind of be a little worrisome for the DLC’s because now the Halloween one I’m like, “Okay, it’s just kind of this free thing. It’s it’s basically nothing, but whatever. It’s free. It’s a bonus. I’m not too upset about it.” Um, it wasn’t like a head hunter pack. It was just kind of like a free event. But again, the Borderlands 3 was like so good that uh the bar was so high and uh you know, we missed the mark and the bar was high with the mercenary day. Uh for a lot of people that is the best head hunters and uh this wasn’t it. Oh, that uh backfired almost. Um, yeah, we have new weapons in this and so far I’m not impressed with any of them and that’s kind of sad. Uh, we have the campaign is okay. It’s a little bit short, but it’s I mean, originally this was not going to be free, I believe. So, um I don’t know. It’s a new map, which I’m happy about. The uh Halloween one had no new map. There is a story and a campaign in it, so that’s kind of cool. Um the boss fight, there’s uh two enemies in the boss fight and they both have the same loot pool and there’s three items and it’s the same kind of drop rates were not the happiest with, but um it’s uh I mean there’s more chance with two bosses to get them. So, the farm is pretty good, but I can’t help compare it to the snowman fight and the train. And the fight’s not as cool as the snowman fight, and there is no train. There’s just a chest at the end of it. Sorry. And I don’t know, like the bar was set so high in Borderlands 2 with um again the the the the train was one of the best farms we had for like regular gear. And man, if they would have brought the train back in this, A+ 100 10 out of 10. Um, if we just had the train back or a form of the train. Um, that was just one of the best things they’ve done. Gearbox, it’s it was so good. And there’s so much like farming we want in this game for purple gear and there’s no way to do it. And this was the chance like give us the train. But instead, we just get a single chest. And uh that was a little disappointing. It’s not like the worst thing ever. Again, it’s free. Uh we did get new guns. Uh I think there’s seven pieces of new gear if I’m not mistaken. And we also have vault cards. This makes me really happy. Um especially if as we get more vault cards and we can you know change them and do different things. Right now I think this is the only vault card we have. Uh but you get uh you get these pretty quickly which is good. Um I like some of these uh vehicle skins. They’re kind of cool. Uh not that vehicle skins matter much but uh you can see I already bought one. I’m probably going to buy another. Um, but vault cards were cool. I really liked vault cards in BL3. It gave you just a little bit something else to chase. Um, I was able to unlock all four of these guns pretty quickly, which is awesome. Um, so you get a lot of things fast and I wasn’t even chasing the challenges so much. As you can see, I only did one out of the four challenges. Um, and didn’t even start on the weekly challenge. So, yeah, I think I’ll go that one. That’s kind of cool. Or I should save up for the heads. I’m gonna do the heads first before I do that. Um I’m kind of into the deer antler head. I don’t know why. I really dig that. So uh yeah, the cosmetics. I think these are kind of cool. Um Harlo’s. That’s pretty good. Or no, that’s Vex. Oh, you can get these for all the characters. Cool. I was thinking these were one per character. Um, oh, that mean I have to unlock them with each. Yeah. Uh, but yeah, I’m into all these heads. Um, yeah, it’s vault cards are sweet. Um, you know, it’s not like a big thing, but like it’s just a nice little bonus. And um, you know, gun skins I don’t really care about, but it’s a way to get some guns. Sadly, I pulled all these out. The best one I thought was the shotgun. Um, I think I sent them all to my bank already. Uh, the pistol seemed like there’s a potential. I’ll do a separate video on all these. Sniper maybe with the right build. Um, the SMG felt kind of weak. And then the drops from the bosses, uh, they don’t feel great. We have this TDOR pistol. And then we have this thing which uh it’s like a cryo rowan’s gun which sounds really cool in theory but they did a weird thing with it that I’m going to uh rant about in my other video. But uh so you see this is only 21. This is the highest crit I could roll. A bunch of these rolled with a negative crit. Like do not give us negative crits gearbox. We’ve learned this lesson. Like don’t do that. H Yeah. So farming this thing, you’re going to have to like farm it like crazy to um get versions. I’ll just quick show you here. Uh so like this one, if I inspect this one, negative 55% crit damage. And the whole point of this thing is to crit enemies. Like what the hell are we thinking? Um, yeah. So, that’s kind of dumb. Uh, this pistol doesn’t feel fantastic. I only used it for a little bit, but uh did not feel that strong. And yeah, it’s it’d be if you’re going to give us new gear, the game’s been out a little bit. You guys have done some balance patches, gearbox, like do better. Um, uh, yeah, like you should have kind of tested these and balanced them a little bit better before release. Um, I’ll kind of show you this gun. And it’ll still kill things cuz like things just die easily in this game. Uh, but yeah, the the damage doesn’t feel all that strong on it. It’s kind of slow. It’s got a long reload. The reflecting crits are cool obviously and you can get it with like torque parts and everything, but it just doesn’t feel when we have all these like super strong guns in the game, this thing just doesn’t feel like it’s it. And on these small enemies, it’ll like do a little bit. Look how long it takes to break that shield. Um, but like on bosses and bigger enemies, it felt so soft. And you can even see like on those enemies, it’s just very slow to do damage. Um, yeah. So, not really uh all impressed with that. Um, like I said, it’s a free DLC and I don’t want to be all like buttth hurt in that. It’s uh there is a lot of good things and there’s a ton in the patch. Um there’s some cool stuff, but it’s like oh man, there he is. That’s who we want. I wish I could just like literally just bring back the head hunter back. Um yeah, I I don’t know really what else to say about this. It’s It’s cool. It’s good that we got something new. Um, I really am happy about the vault card. I think the vault card might be my favorite part of this. Um, new cosmetics are cool, but like I just wish the new gear was a little more impactful and may maybe it just came out. I’m just using the Vex and I don’t I’m not building around it. Um, but I just wanted that new gear to like blow me away and really get me excited and like change how I’m playing and it’s not. On the other side, uh, I’ve been going for a little bit. Uh, I was, uh, trying to buy a house and I got out bid sadly and, uh, I didn’t get the house I wanted. It was a beautiful like mid-century modern home. Uh, it was so sexy and someone came in with an allcash offer and went like 35 grand over the asking price and I didn’t get the house I wanted. So, uh, we are doing that and work’s been insanely busy. Uh, so it’s kind of been um, yeah, it’s kind of been some busy times. So, I’m probably not going to upload a lot during the holidays here. Uh there’s just a lot going on and uh yeah. Yeah, it’s just been busy times. But uh I I did like take like a week or so off of the game and it felt really good to come back. Like I I know this is like a negative video, but uh you know I was I was kind of getting frustrated with the game. I wasn’t having a ton of fun. And uh once I like booted it back up and started playing it, not even like this DLC before I even went into this, I was just having a lot of fun just running around the world and that. So like, you know, just stepping away from the game made it fun again. Uh and I just think I needed a break. you know, I was playing every day for quite a bit. And yeah, that little just like step away, don’t do it non-stop, just made the world of difference. So, um, uh, I’m back to like having fun with the game. Um, and I did have fun playing this. I know I was all like negative poo poo about it, but just like if the bar wasn’t set so high with the Halloween DL uh event for Borderlands 3 and the Christmas Head Hunter pack for Borderlands 2, you know, I think I would really like this. It’s It’s good, but like those bars have been set. And you know, again, that Halloween event was so sad. um especially in the light of Orlands 3. And then this, it’s just not the Marcus Mercenary Day Head Hunter back. It just doesn’t compete. And that pack was so good. Um even the campaign of that pack was like a lot of fun. Like I thought the story was funny. Uh like Little Sad Tim was funny. The boss was good, but mainly that train. Oh my god, that train. And like the snowmen were a unique enemy, and this game doesn’t really have any unique enemies for this DLC other than like the boss, which is also just a reskin. Um, so like that kind of hurts it a little bit, you know? Uh, it’s just, you know, we we can’t ignore what’s come in the past. and compare these things to it. And I would forgive a lot of that if they up the guns. Like there is a the torque pistol. It was like a times five. I’m like, “Oh [ __ ] do we are do we finally got a masher?” I was all excited. And then it like shoots in the spread and wraps around. But it’s one of those like if an enemy’s in your face, it goes around them and you don’t hit them. And I at first like, “Oh, is this going to be like an interfacer pistol with the way it shot?” And no, it was not. It was not. Uh, it it’s got like potential, but it’s like really hard to use. And yeah, I I’ve got like notes on all the guns so far, and I’ve like barely touched them. And that just says something like uh it’d be nice if I could just like shoot those guns and be like, “Oh, there’s a lot of potential here.” But I’m more like, “Oh, there’s some balance issues here that they need to address.” And that’s not what we want. So yeah, let me know what you guys think of this. Um, you know, overall happy we have it, but it’s just making me a little nervous for DLC and like Wonderlands DLC was trash and but they’ve always like nailed DLC for the Borderlands franchise. You know, Borderlands one had dope DLC for the main games. Borderlands 2 DLC was just like unheard of. uh Borderlands 3 DLC package just like upped it from Borderlands 2, you know, like they just keep upping the game with the DLC packages, but then we come to this game and like we’re not seeing that. We’re kind of seeing a let down and these Borderlands games are often like held up by the DLC. Um that’s what like makes or breaks the games. like the vanilla games are good, but it’s the DLC that like keeps us playing. And uh yeah, we we need to see some better stuff for the DLC. um even when it’s like something like this that I know it’s free and it’s hard to complain about free but uh but yeah it’s uh yeah I’m just going to shoot this guy and end it. Oh, gravity cool. Um, yeah. I don’t I don’t know what else to say than that. Kind of just repeating myself at this point. So, uh, yeah. Um, sorry about the little hiatus, but, uh, I’m going to wrap up the Jacob series. And I was going to do Vlad next, but I kind of want to do Order next just to force myself to use Order. I feel like order can is like cooler than people are giving it credit for and uh I just kind of want to dig in and like play with order and like force myself to like understand and start like getting into it, you know? We just got bounty pack 1 and this is our second piece of DLC for Borderlands 4 and both have not lived up to past DLC offerings, does this have you worried as it does for me?
