More FromSoftware News Just Dropped | Nightreign DLC Details, The Duskbloods Info, and MORE!

All right, what’s going on, guys? Elden Ring Night Reign: The Forsaken Hollows DLC is coming out in just over a week. And ever since we got the gameplay trailer for it, things have been surprisingly quiet. There has been no other marketing, no interviews with the directors, and with the release date approaching quick, that may be about to change. But despite that, we actually do have quite a bit to talk about today. There was a new tweet from the official Elden Ring account with some hints about the DLC that we’re going to break down. We have some information coming from a pretty credible leaker about what else we can expect in the leadup. We need to talk about Elder Ring Night Reign being nominated for several awards across game shows. And then I want to talk about some pretty interesting information that came out from an interview with Bandai Namco. So, we’re going to dive into all of that. But as we get started, if you want to stay uptoate on all things Elden Ring Night Reign, go ahead and hit that subscribe button. And now, let’s get into it. So, like I mentioned at the beginning, ever since the trailer for The Forsaken Hollows dropped, the official channels have been pretty quiet, and it has only been about a week and a half. But even then, I was expecting a bit of a buildup, at least a tweet or two hinting at some new information. But it looks like that’s about to begin now because we just got our first tweet about the DLC from the official Elden Ring account. And yes, this did come out on Friday, and I know it’s Monday now, but it doesn’t really warrant a whole video on its own. So, let’s talk about it here. They tweeted, “Seek out the small jar merchant. Your journey to rally new allies and explore new lands shall begin there. Elen Ring: Night Rain the Forsaken Hollows launches on December 4th, 2025 with an image that we saw from the trailer. But let’s look a bit more closely. So, here’s the shot of the Jar Merchant in the trailer. We can see he does have a new spot. It looks like he’s moved over a little bit and the door behind him will now open, revealing a new spot for Undertaker. Now, we can see a little variations between the trailer clip and the image that they shared. For example, the angle is lower and the drawing that he presents is different. Nothing really too significant to gleam from that, but we now know that this is how we’ll start the DLC whenever it drops by talking to the jar merchant and likely purchasing an item from him. I imagine this is going to be a similar situation to Duchess and Revenant where you buy the item from the jar merchant and then Undertaker and Scholar are either there or this triggers some kind of quest to unlock them. And I hope they have a pretty cool introductory quest like that, especially the one like Revenant has where you have to actually fight her in order to start playing with her. But that’s about all we can extrapolate from this tweet. Not a lot here, to be honest. It’s pretty on the nose. And I got to be honest, man, it makes me miss the tweets back in the OG Elden Ring days. We’d be sitting there theorizing for weeks off like two sentences of lore. Those were the good old days. But this DLC comes out next week anyway. I’m sure we’ll have plenty to work with in the content itself. Also in the news, we have some information from a Chinese game journalist, Giwin, who was around a lot back in the old days of Elden Ring and the leadup to the base game when we had some of those first leaks like Radon and Reichard. I know y’all remember that. But they put out this post which talks a little bit about what we can expect in the leadup to the DLC for Night Rain and also has a bit of information about the Dusk Bloods. It reads, “The next thing for Nightra DLC should be the trailers for the two new characters, followed by the final launch trailer. After that, I hope it’s finally time for Dusk Bloods to start dropping news. From what I know, this project was green lit even earlier than the marketing period before Seiro’s release, and it is a from software title that has spent the longest time purely on gameplay prototyping and validation among all their games so far. Although it’s PVEP, it reportedly contains many innovative elements that the team themselves are very proud of. Maybe it will once again provide inspiration to a lot of game developers just like Seiro did. Now, that Dus Bloods bit is very interesting. But before we get into that, let’s talk about Night Rain. Now, it’s hard to tell if they’re actually saying this from having knowledge on it or if this is just their own speculation, but they claim we need character trailers for each of the new Nightfares as well as a launch trailer. And again, if history repeats itself, that is what we can expect. And I really think they should. We need a little bit of marketing for this. We do still have a week and a half. You know, they could drop them both this week or drop a joint trailer that combines both of them. You know, maybe one on Tuesday and one on Thursday, although that would be Thanksgiving, so maybe that’s a problem. and they have been liking Fridays for post a lot lately. But this would be healthy marketing to get more eyes on the DLC because we really haven’t seen that many people talking about it outside of the from software circle of course and I’m sure we will get a launch trailer at least a little one probably Tuesday of next week. But now let’s get into the juicy part of this and talk about the Dusk Bloods. Now speaking about things that have been quiet, we have heard absolutely nothing about the Dusk Bloods ever since the trailer dropped to the Nintendo Direct earlier this year. And for a Miyazaki directed game coming out within the calendar year, of course, that is weird. You would expect quite a bit more, but as this leaker suggests, maybe they’re holding off until after Night Reigns DLC. And if so, we could potentially see a new trailer for this game at TGA. I wouldn’t gamble on that, but it would make sense. Now, let’s look at what this journalist specifically mentioned that they know about the Dusk Bloods. They said it was green lit even earlier than the marketing period before Seiro’s release. And it’s the From Software title that has spent the longest time purely on gameplay prototyping and validation among all their games so far. Now, what does that mean? Well, that means it’s probably more than just a throwaway side project to appease Nintendo, as a lot of people were kind of taking it to be. And ever since we learned that Miyazaki was the one at the helm of this, that whole idea that this really wasn’t that big of a project never sat too well. And they’re suggesting here that this game is even more experimental and they’ve been focusing even more so on trying new things than even Seiro. And this kind of checks out if we go back to some of the interviews about the Dusk Bloods. Even though we do know this is a PvPVE game, they’re working a lot with many different ways to win than simply a battle royale format. As they mentioned with things like a nemesis system, contracts you select before matches that affect the way you interact with other players during the match. We could potentially be seeing from Software here invent their new style of multiplayer game. That isn’t just a battle royale that isn’t just an extraction, but something else entirely new. And as the journalists suggest, could potentially influence games going forward in such a way that even Seiro and Bloodborne did in the past to where we’re still getting clones of those games even today. And that really does make sense now that I’m thinking about it because all the information we have on the Dusk Blood so far, I still can’t figure out exactly what kind of game this is. So, we really need to hear more about this. This information has me very excited to learn more. And I got to say it, but I wish this wasn’t a Switch 2 exclusive, but From Software knows what they’re doing. This could be one of their most interesting games ever. But we desperately need another trailer for the Dusk Bloods. Hopefully, we get one pretty soon, if not at TGA. But speaking of TGA, Elden Ring Night Reign was nominated for best multiplayer game, but the competition this year is very steep. It’s going up against Arc Raiders, Battlefield 6, Peak, and Split Fiction. And I gotta be honest, I’m gonna be surprised if it wins. Now, of course, my vote will be going to Night Rain, but I know a lot of people really love Arc Raiders. Battlefield 6 was really good, too. One of the best Battlefields we’ve had in a long time. I know a lot of people that played a ton of Peak, and I’ve heard nothing but praise for Split Fiction, and it seems like Joseph Farrez always gets a spotlight at TGA. So, it’s going to be hard for Night Rain to come out on top this time. You really can’t be upset if any of these games win. They all deserve it. but it’s going to be worth tuning in anyway as a from software fan to keep an eye out for a potential Dusk Bloods trailer or even something else. Now, I did see some Night Rain snubbed post going around talking about game of the year and I got to be honest, it’s not a snub. 2025 was a banger year for video games and everything nominated for game of the year this time around absolutely deserves being up there. Expedition 33 is probably going to take it, but for Night Rain, let’s be honest with ourselves. I love Night Rain. I’ve got my money’s worth out of Night Rain, but it didn’t live up to the full potential that it could have. And we’ve talked about that plenty of times, especially when it comes to the Dark Souls crossover. Again, great game, tons of fun, but game of the year, no, I don’t think so. And the final thing I wanted to talk about today is there was a really interesting interview with Bandai Namco kind of talking about their relationship with From Software and how that’s played out for them. And it goes into detail about how Bandai Namco has seen their relationship with From Software over the years. And it’s an interesting read if you care about that stuff. There’s nothing super important here if you’re only looking for like game information, but they did share one thing that was pretty interesting where they mentioned that in terms of sales figures, they recorded the best ever in Bandai Namco history with Elden Ring. And some numbers came out a few weeks ago where it mentioned that the Dark Souls trilogy was the highest selling franchise for Bandai Namco across a series, beating out things even like Dragon Ball and Naruto. And man, it really makes you realize how mainstream from software is gone now. Elden Ring really was a worldwide phenomenon in a way that I don’t think we’ll ever see again for that kind of game. But yeah, if you want to check out that article, you can find it over on the game business show. Interesting read if you care about the business side of things. And I wonder where the future is going to be for Bandai Namco and From Software because every time we get a Katakawa report now, they always talk about From Software wanting to expand their own publishing. And with Nintendo taking over publishing for the Dusk Bloods, it makes you wonder where their next IP is going to go. But that is everything we have to talk about today. Elden Ring Night Reigns DLC is just around the corner. We got TGA coming up as well. A lot of stuff to look forward to. With all that though, if you enjoyed today’s video, be sure to leave a like on it and subscribe if you’re new around here. And I will catch you in the next one.
