The one that hasn't yellowed at all is my copy of the first Story of Seasons for 3DS. It was actually the very first game I bought, right when it was released. On the other hand, my copies of Pokémon X and Animal Crossing: New Leaf have already turned yellow. Bottom is very yellow but top is slightly yellow.

Where did you place them? If you place them in the sun, they will yellow, even inside of a transparent case. I would recommend storing them somewhere cool and dry, such as a closet.

    2. It’s a thing that happens to white plastic sometimes. I’m in both the Lego and Transformers communities and you see a lot of it happening in both places. If I remember correctly there’s a way to unyellow it using acetone, but it does make the plastic a lot more liable to breakages.

    3. They’re probably brominated plastics — plastics that have been manufactured using flame retardant chemicals, but are known for causing the plastic to yellow in response to oxygen and UV exposure.

It’s the reason why old grey SNES’ and Gameboys are now beige.

    4. Depends on the conditions stored plus potentially the makeup of the plastic. For example some SNES consoles turned yellow over time while others didn’t depending on what the batch of plastic was made of. Even ones kept unopened in the box all these years can be yellow inside.

    5. Yellowing is caused by interaction with sunlight or UV light, rather than air. Which means it would turn yellow even if you sealed it in a vacuum bag(and you shouldn’t do this, anyway).

    6. yellowing, or photodegradation, is pretty poorly understood. we think it’s caused by UV rays, and it seems to affect some types of plastic more than others, but we don’t know much more than that.

Are you sure it’s the game cases that are yellowing, or is it the plastic sleeve itself?

    8. some plastic when kept in an airtight bag will sweat out parts of the plasticiser, if you open them and theyre sticky or tacky to the touch then this will be why
