We have some great news for Nintendo Switch 2 owners and Sonic fans! Our sources confirm that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, which successfully launched last September, is officially coming to Nintendo’s new platform. The portable version will fully use the Switch 2's power to provide smooth gameplay that matches the home console versions.

This info comes from a well-known leaker, GraczDari, who spotted new store listings. He is a very reliable source—he was the first to leak that Microsoft Flight Simulator was coming to PS5 back when it seemed impossible. His latest find makes it almost 100% certain that Sonic is coming to the Switch 2 on March 26, 2026.

The best news for collectors? Sega is reportedly skipping the controversial "code in a box" (key-card) practice. Instead, the game will be a Full Cart release. This means the entire game will be on the cartridge, which is a huge win for those who care about physical preservation and want to avoid massive downloads before they can even start playing.

I was going to wait for this, but Smyth’s in the UK had the Switch version down to £35 in December, with the Switch 2 upgrade being £10, it matched the Steam Sale price so I just went for it, it was great for me at a £45 price point.

    2. I loved SASASRT, and am glad this one is getting positive reviews. But man, it just looks like a Gameloft iOS racer to me. It looks like the carts barely interact with the ground at all.

    3. Just give me a date and let me preorder it. Ive been patient since I only want it to play as Mega Man/Protoman, Pac-Man/Ghosts and the TMNT

    4. Y, por que Sega no puede poner todos los juegos en full csrt?? Sega puede poner ese juego en un cart pero los otros juegos son gkcs

Los próximos juegos de Sega va a ser en gkcs.

If the difference is like 10-20$ I think most who are still buying physical would put up with that price bump if it meant they had an actual cartridge.

Like why not have just digital release first, then an actual physical and market it as some “deluxe” version later down the line.

My question though is, why the hell does it take so long to release the game on the cart? It’s a bit of a joke that the physical release will happen 6 months after the game launched😶

    7. Besides the cart is this version diffrdbt to the upgraded version ? As I got switch 1 version, then I bought upgraded to switch 2 version

    8. Key cards aren’t that controversial, they also aren’t in any way similar to a single use code in a box.

    9. Sega isn’t releasing it on a full game card because it’s the decent thing to do, or because they care about fans. It’s simply because there is a requirement that a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition game (a game where there’s a Switch version and an Upgrade Pack for it) must be released fully on the game card, and a Game-Key Card cannot be used.

Furthermore, Sega handled the Upgrade Pack for this game poorly. The Switch 2 version upgrade files are incorrectly labelled in the Switch 2 OS as Update Data, with the actual Upgrade Pack being just a 3MB unlock key. Due to the way the Switch and Switch 2 handle software updates, this game will force-redownload those upgrade files which are assigned as Update Data, which means you’ll have to use around 20GB of Switch 2 storage space even though that data already exists on the game card.
