I got a New 3DS XL from a friend years back. I hopped from the latest gen Nintendo console at the time to PC only to go back to the 3DS.
Anyways, this device has a weird bulge on the left side of the bottom half. It oddly looks like pressure caused the left side of the display to bulge up the face plate. Now, I've taken care of this console and the battery doesn't look like it's begun buldging.
Is this something I should be concerned about? It looks harmless. It hasn't appeard overnight or anything. However, I want to be on top of this if it means it might be some form of console degradation.

I would take the back cover off and make sure the battery is swollen as that is the most common issue that causes bulging and can cause a fire due to the battery swelling.
If it is that replacement batteries are easy to come by.
