Number of enemies on screen for an open world game is all I can think of.

I like the pacing and space. The idea that there are others out there trying to get by. Gives a glimpse into a wider world beyond the moment to moment survival. Last of us does this too but still pushes the pace.

Days gone in a city environment would be interesting

Main standout to me was the hordes.

It didn’t. There are many other better examples of zombie games. Left 4 Dead 2 being one having sold over 50 mil copies and this one’s barely broken 10 mil. Btw RE4 original and remake, RE5, RE6, RE7, RE8 all did better sales. Dead Island 2 also surpassed 20 mil sales. Don’t be lazy and actually research the genre. Days Gone is irrelevant in the zombie world when you have bigger and better franchises.

Those hordes of zombies for sure but it was great in its own way I went back and finished it when they dropped the PS5 remaster and damn I’m glad i did

Swarm mechanics… specifically running away from one horde and directly into another actually got the adrenaline going

Honestly it’s the best zombie game out there to me. The story is good the game play is awesome the hordes are badass. It’s really a tragedy it won’t get a sequel. Sony really needs to let somebody do something with this IP because if a sequel came out today it would sell like hotcakes

Motorcycle maintenance. I think they could’ve leaned into it further, but I enjoyed having to look after the bike. Not very zombie related, but it stood out for me

It was the best of them and no other zombie game provided this kind of experience with these kinds of visuals. Days Gone was the Walking Dead simulator of my dreams. Looking forward to finishing off the remaster.

The hordes, traps and weapons were great, being able to sneak into a base or send in a horde to do the job for you was brilliant, game definitely needs a sequel

The hordes and how it moves and the bike mechanics

I think it was the hordes that did it for me genuine fear of being overrun, but also made you want to go and clear them.
I also liked the idea of moving between other survivor camps but never really feeling like any one of them was “home”. You’re a true nomad so to speak.
I only wish the starting base in the fire watch tower was used more. I wish we could have kept that as a permanent base and has reason to go back there more. I’d love to have been able to upgrade it and customise it

That moment you realised that the RPD machine gun can actually take out a whole horde by just raining down bullets and watching them die to the last one all the while inches away from actually causing you harm. You come out of that a changed man.

Included actual children infected instead of acting like all children just miraculously disappeared before the apocalypse.

Hordes, graphics, and I never felt confined. World really felt open.
