It’s kinda crazy that it’s still ahead after reports of November being one of the worst for hardware sales in decades.

    2. I slightly regret my purchase tbh. I skipped Switch 1 and over the years some exclusives (either switch exclusives or nintendo exclusives) I wanted to play piled up: Bayonetta Series, Bayo Origins, Astral Chain, Xenoblade Series, Metroid Dread, The world End with You, Arceus… So when Switch 2 came out I pulled the trigger but neither of the games I got it for received Switch 2 updates and they barely run any better than on Switch. No Switch 2 exclusive released or announced so far interests me at all currently and I could have saved money by just buying used Switch for a 100 instead. I hope some exclusives that interest me get released to justify my purchase.

My experience was made worse by hardware issues – first unit I got had a dead pixel so I had to return it (not covered by warranty), second unit had the ZR/ZL joycon actuation issue and even though I received free replacement from Nintendo that works fine it took weeks to ship there and back. Bad QC in the early batches. It really should have been priced at least $100 lower.

    3. This is just a prediction. But I have a feeling this console is gonna have this insanely strong start but fizzle out a lot faster than the original Switch. Like I believe most people who wanted a Switch 2 based on the Switch 1 will have gotten it much earlier. But the handheld market has gotten a lot more crowded since 2017 and the novelty of the concept of handheld/docking isn’t there as much now. But I do want to be clear that I still think it’s gonna exceed sales of 100 million. I just think it’ll likely finish closer to the Wii sales than the Switch 1.

Edit: honestly it’s not really any fun to discuss anything on this site when you just get downvoted for truly no reason. I said something completely harmless that I can’t even understand how it offended anyone enough to get downvoted.

    4. I’d bet this trend will continue, considering the RAM/components prices because of AI. It sucks but Nintendo will likely raise the price of the Switch 2 at some point. But it would be way cheaper than whatever PS6 and the next Xbox would be. The PS5 and Series X already use 16gb of RAM, and I bet the next gen would need to at least bump up to 32gb. So now Sony and Xbox are stuck with either riding out the current gen longer, or putting out extremely expensive new hardware. The Switch 2 came out at lucky timing, and will likely be the new shiny thing for a while.

    5. That report earlier this month from Game Business seems to have jumped the gun when speaking to US numbers again.

    6. But I was assured that it would be as big a flop as the Wii U if they didn’t drop the price! The angry mob said so!

    7. I don’t like my switch 1 at all. Felt old & underpowered. My switch 2 is all I play anymore, haven’t touched my ps5 in like 3 months. It’s feel premium, looks great, lets me play titles the OG switch ran poorly or not at all in handheld with awesome performance.

I’m really hoping more of my friends upgrade because my only real complaint is lack of social features leaves me feeling lonely on the Switch 2. No one to sit in a game chat & shoot the shit with or messaging one another. Loving the system though, they cooked with it.

    8. There must be a lot of people like me still holding to the switch Oled, waiting for a refresh on the S2 to upgrade.

    9. Just bought mine on Monday. First Nintendo console I’ve owned since the Wii and I’m absolutely loving it so far.

I’m still using my OG Switch OLED and can’t put it down. Think I’ll wait for the (I hope inevitable) release of a Switch 2 OLED before I upgrade. Fair play to Nintendo for these sales figures.

    11. Imagine how well it will sell when it gets a second game to play after Bananza.

My Switch 2 is gathering dust is what I’m saying, I just hope it picks up some pace soon.

    12. I think the biggest factor is the PS4 wasn’t backwards compatible to PS3. Which is why I think NX2 is outpacing PS4. While the PS5 is backwards compatible with PS4 it was unfortunately released during COVID times.
