I honestly doubt that the censorship is Nintendo’s fault, I think it’s the devs just being hyper-vigilant. Nintendo hardcore advertised and pushed Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2, and you can see full on nudity within like three minutes of opening the game plus a ton of sex scenes throughout and heavy language.

I would have thought that after Cyberpunk was released completely uncensored that this would not be an issue. Because of that I do wonder if this was a publisher decision rather than Nintendo’s considering how much Nintendo themselves pushed Cyberpunk at the launch of the Switch 2.
Update: Apparently AdHoc released a statement that seems to imply that this was a Nintendo decision and not theirs. I wonder if Nintendo is aware then of what’s in Cyberpunk, GTA, Witcher 3, LA Noire, etc. if they all of a sudden have a problem with it now

I was able to get a refund through chat on Nintendo’s website. I have not launched the game. They did give me the ‘normally we don’t do this spiel’ but I got an email confirmation about my refund. Crazy they wouldn’t mention this prior to release. Nintendo must know they fucked up based on all the comments of people getting refunds without issue.

Pretty shady behavior by the developer. They could’ve informed people before release that the Switch version would be censored. Instead, they wait until the date of release for people to find out.
And this IS on AdHoc, not Nintendo. Sure, they were following Nintendo’s content guidelines. But it’s on AdHoc to communicate when their game isn’t going to match expectations.

Hot take, depending on what’s being censored, the game could use it. I’m not averse to swearing, I swear like a sailor, but Jesus Christ the game took it to completely unnecessary levels and could’ve done with an editor imo often felt like the dialogue boiled down to “Look at his fucking cock and fucking balls fucking the fucking fuckers with its tits and ass and shit”.
Edit: make it toggleable tho and add that toggle to PC
