My plastic protective shell has chipped the paint on my N3DSXL. It’s not a huge deal, but I’m pretty careful with my devices and like to keep things in nice shape. Just a heads up for anyone wondering if these protective shells cause damage over time.

this should be obvious but still everyday i see people recommend getting the hard shell see-through cases on amazon but there isnt a single one that wont damage the 3ds over time or when removing it either. its unfortunate, but id now recommend buying a silicone or “TPU” case instead
Exactly why you buy a tpu case or any soft case instead of a hard one like plastic.
I got a plastic one some time ago and because it wasn’t an absolute perfect fit, the console would slightly move around whilst in the case whenever I’d be playing. The back, which was pretty spotless before this, had many small scratches which was a shame.
Long story short, a soft case is easily a better option and idk what benefits a hard one has.
