    1. I liked Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened. It’s not an action game, just so you know, but more of an investigative puzzle game mashing up Holmes and the Cthulhu Mythos.

I started Sinking City, but I didn’t like the combat, so I ended up shelving it.

    2. I’ve played The Sinking City. I think of it as the Deadly Premonition of the 8th gen, which is to say that it’s a survival horror game starring a detective staying at a local hotel, and with an extra stat to manage (in this case sanity) that feels like a game from a gen prior from a technical standpoint, but is otherwise engaging.

The Sinking City is set in H.P. Lovecraft’s universe and includes a ton of references to his stories, which is probably why my friend who is a huge Lovecraft fan really likes it. Unlike Deadly Premonition this game wasn’t made in Japan though, so it doesn’t go off the rails in the final act with a batshit insane climax and ending, and in fact I actually find The Sinking City’s endings to be quite anticlimactic, but otherwise I think it’s worth giving a try to see if it’s your thing, especially in a bundle at that price point.
