It seems ok at the moment, but with opening and closing it. A lot, it might put strain on it a little, the good news is though it’s easy to fix/ or be fixed. You don’t need to worry either way.

Don’t worry. Mine had the same problem… The hinge just broke, and I had to rebuild it and glue it with super glue… And my 3DS is currently working perfectly!… although it does make strange noises when I open and close it…

    3. It will eventually break. It being visibly stretching across the whole joint in several points means the internal damage is worse than you or I can see. You will need to swap the midframe sooner rather than later. A hinged hard case can help alleviate some tension from that joint to prolong your time with that midframe. clcarefully opening and closing your console to avoid putting stress on that joint will also help to buy you a few more weeks to months. Either way, start shopping for a new frame now, and start learning how to replace it yourself or look into local repair options. This will break, it is only a matter of when. Do NOT attempt to use glue to fill the cracks. Glue could seep into the frame and bind to the internal components, which will make the midframe swap much much much harder. Any potential structural integrity you’d gain from filling the cracks isn’t worth that risk.
