I just picked up this OG XL to mod, it’s great but the volume rocker has to be the most dumbest placements I’ve ever seen on any handheld. My hand literally rests on the slider and my hand keeps moving the sound up full whack randomly, It’s also super slippy which obviously doesn’t help.
Who thought this was a good idea, because it’s a very poor design choice imo. Considering selling this and grabbing a “new” model but the cost jump to have a volume slider in decent spot seems insane lol

Overall I find the OG XL to be the worst, lowest quality model. Gets oil easily. I hate the one-sided soft HOME button. The hinge is so loud. Despite it being very nostalgic I personally find it very ugly. But also Nintendo managed to add the exterior peeling problem to the new 3DS XL (although it hasn’t happened to me). Do be careful as the paint on the front of the OG 3DS XL is very thin and scratches show up easily, although I suppose you could say you should be careful not to scratch any console I guess. I definitely think the new 3DS standard size is the best model.
