‏yeah but they still sold 17m which is higher than their initial expectations of 15m

    2. I still haven’t gotten one because my backlog of games for switch one is big. I also haven’t seen a release of a game for switch 2 that I have to have.

That’s because the current library of games that are exclusive to Switch 2 is “slightly weaker than expected,” Nintendo.

    4. Well, in Mexico of all places a Switch 2 is more than twice the price of a Switch 2 here in Japan.

Got the switch2 and it is so good though. I really like the bigger screen, if nothing else.

It’s a direct reflection of the weak American economy in my opinion a lot of people just don’t have Switch 2 money right now and $450 is a lot to spend then hand it to your kid

Everything is expensive, plus the lack of titles isn’t helping.

I’m holding out for an OLED version. It’s going to happen eventually, and the fact that it didn’t launch with one was baffling.

Hmm let’s see: (1) lack of games I want to play, (2) high prices for both the system and the games, and (3) Nintendo acting like it actively hates me as a consumer by dropping an $80 game and then hiding it without any price transparency or explanation as to why. In Japan, everything is priced lower because they actually seem to care about the Japanese consumer.

I think I’m good. I got a PS5 with a PS+ subscription and a PS Portal and that has pretty much replaced my Switch entirely. You’d think that sounds more expensive than a Switch 2, but not really. The console is almost the same price, and with PS+ I got tons of games for $150 for the entire year while with Nintendo, I’d be paying $70-$80 per game I want. It’s a no brainer.

    9. If “sales outside of Japan were lower than expected“ still means you sold 17m units worldwide and have just surpassed your sales projection a second time, after already increasing in in September or so, your still doing pretty darn well!

(Last I checked the number was 4m units for Japan, so it isn’t the majority or even close to half of the sales either…)

I have multiple family members and friends who all had the og switch and still do , most still play them specifically for Mario kart 8 and animal crossing lol. Then there’s those who like most have pointed out here who argue that there’s not many games out to justify splashing a large amount of cash in this economy. I don’t blame them even games like Xenoblade (all of them) , astral chain and the like haven’t been patched for the new switch which is the only reason I got it at the start thinking I can finally enjoy them without lag or looking blurry. I have die hard friends who played all the fromsoft games and have I told me they won’t be picking it up for duskbloods since it won’t be a traditional game as it’ll focus mostly on multiplayer like night-reign instead of having a proper story / gameplay (open world not spawning in) like Elden ring .

    11. Im waiting for the inevitable mid cycle upgrade.

Not paying more money for a console with less games than my current switch and with a weaker battery life

Maybe if it wasn’t $500 and each game $70+ then maybe people would be able to buy in. But right now it’s just too unreasonable of a price given the current cost of living.

    13. I mean it’s competing with itself for now and that should have been expected. The Switch 1 still has games releasing for it. People’s friends are likely all still on Switch 1 so there’s and alignment issue there to some degree. Plus U.S caused economic turmoil.

I keep forgetting that there is a Japan only Switch 2 model being sold over there that’s the equivalent of like $300-$350 US, so no wonder the sales are stronger relatively in Japan than everywhere else lol

    15. I got a Switch 2 but I was waiting a while to upgrade as my original Switch had weird battery issues where I couldn’t play it for long undocked on top of Joycon drift.

But as a US citizen with a full time job, I understand if you don’t get it. Everything has gone up in price or reduced the amount you get for the price or both. If there isn’t a heavy hitter you want and your original Switch is still good you should wait until you can afford it. Although I would warn folks to be wary of a future price hike, it ain’t happened yet but given the current economy it definitely will at some point down the road.

    16. I am waiting for Fire Emble: Fortune’s Weave and Mario Kart and Prime 4 look disappointing.

    17. I’m happy with the switch 2 I bought, and I don’t have a problem with the game prices, because there were $80 titles as far back as the Super Nintendo. What’s really throwing me on the new console is the $100 price on a second set of switch 2 joycons.

    18. Maybe they should patch all the switch 1 games to take advantage of the switch 2’s specs. Maybe they shouldn’t shoehorn open world into every major release.

    19. I’m part of the “problem” here. I preorder every major console, but I haven’t gotten a Switch 2 yet. Nintendo games don’t hit steep sales like most other publishers, so most of the Switch games in our house are used game cards. When I heard about Nintendo “bricking” Switch 2 consoles for using game cards that were copied, yet providing no method to check if a card is safe, I backed away from the purchase button. The weak list of exclusives doesn’t help.

Cost of living is pretty bad. The list of Switch 2 games is also pretty bad.
There are like only 3 worthwhile games exclusive to the Switch 2 at the moment. And those that are, are not ubiquitous enough to be real system sellers.

    21. People don’t want to re-play games that have Switch 2 upgrades, they want new experiences.
