CECH-A01, CECH-B01 and CECH-E01 those are the backwards compatible units. That said even though it doesn’t have the hardware you could probably install custom firmware and make it have backwards compatibility that way.

You want to look for –
– CECHAxx, CECHBxx (these 2 have the Emotion Engine CPU and Graphics Synthesiser from the PS2 to provide backwards compatibility)
– CECHCxx (only has the Graphics Synthesiser from the PS2, uses software emulation for the PS2 CPU, so there is backwards compatibility, but won’t play all PS2 titles)

There were early fat models that were. I used to have one before it frizzled on me. The vast majority are not.

Doesn’t look like it, but I’m not an expert: [https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/SKU_Models](https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/SKU_Models)
The easiest way it to count the number of usb ports on the front. 4 is yes, 2 is no.

I believe it is a “no”.

No, but there are methods to make it work.
